Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Some players still have it in their locker to carry on into their mid thirties and I see Rooney in the same category.

He would be a great marketing asset for the club also as he is a worldwide name.

Free transfer? It's a yes from me.

Think what the likes of Barkley and Davies would learn from him.

I would be interested to hear your marketing strategy regarding Mr Rooney and him being a world wide name. What avenues does it open up for us exactly? Unless we are allowed to make profit from "Rooney 10" Manchester United shirts then I don't see what we get from it.

I worry what the likes of Barkley and Davies can learn from him personally. It worries me greatly.

If Rom goes, which looks likely, he would step in and comfortably be the best player in the squad (excluding any statement signings we make). I'd love to see them play together though

His wages will be offset by any and all commercial opportunities his return will provide, it's a no brainer if it's to be believed. I think there will be benefits on the playing side also as having someone with his experience will rub off on others, especially if things do really start to kick into gear with Everton. Tomorrow's anticipated stadium announcement will be the acid test of our ambition IMO.

What commercial opportunities. He ceases to be a worldwide brand when he moved to us. He won't even sell as many as lukaku or Barkley as half the fan Base don't want this to happen

He could help with the winning mentality. Also anyone saying Rooney is past it but are still championing Gareth Barry, go and have a word with yourself.

Erm...is anybody championing Gareth Barry?

Its pretty well agreed that he generally should no longer be an option for the first 11.

Barry filled a gap and did well. We are supposedly ready to move on from the position we were in when he came here.

Due to him being a world wide name, he will therefore attract more media attention than any player currently on our books. Thus enhancing the name of Everton FC further worldwide IMO. Yes I get that we are a premier league side thus well known anyway, but this does nothing but boost Everton FC further into the spotlight, at a time when the club looks like its on an upward curve too, so win/win for me.

Don't ask me for a marketing strategy please, not my area! lol

Not sure why you worry about what other players learn from him, he is and always has been a model pro on the pitch, leads by example and always gives his all, as well as being very talented to boot.

A model pro that smokes, drinks, slacks off (as of recent, admitted he doesn't put his all) and hasn't been fit for about 2 years.

Some model, that.

Also see Messi, Cruyff, Vialli, Zidane, Maradona.....hardly affected them has it now?

They all have a drink occasionally too.

Silly things to have a go at him for.
