Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

We do however have to pay out of our own pockets to watch Everton, so it does matter to me whether he plays for us because I want to see good Everton players when possible.
Same here but I think Koemans knowledge of players and what he would like them to do for him snookers us. So I trust to Koeman to make the decision and will not lose any sleep whatsoever of what we pay him if Koeman wants him.

On this thread's subject, I would like to hear the thoughts of @Eggs
I enjoy the wit and banter on here, but let's be honest, there is a massive volume of cluelessness going on as regards insightful football knowledge.
Eggs is an exception and his considerations are worth listening to.

...oh gosh. I think my opinion of this fella is well known. I went into Bellefield many years ago on my normal Saturday morning jaunt to watch our U18s in the Lancashire League. That morning I witnessed something very special, a 15 year old who I didn't know but genuinely within 5 minutes of watching I knew was destined to get to the top of the game. A few weeks later I drove past his house and saw him walking unnoticed on Stonebridge Lane and said to my family that kid will be known across the world in 2 years. I wasn't being clever.

I've loved watching him since. I still love watching him so I am biased. I was never bitter when he left and I think his subsequent achievements are underrated. A fella who has won virtually every domestic trophy in the game, who became his country's captain, greatest ever goalscorer and possibly record number of appearances is a lad from Croxteth.

He's clearly past his best and his game time will be limited but I'd still like to see him back at Everton. I'm not being romantic, he still has the ability to positively influence football matches and he still has the ability to positively influence his team mates. Having him in and around the training ground and dressing room on match day can only be a plus. Also, at a time when sponsorship and funding streams are being sought at a significant point in our redevelopment, the acquisition of Rooney can only raise our profile.

I have heard he's off to China but if that isn't accurate I'd be happy to see him back here.

Right with you 100%. There will be roles he can fill and hopefully, fill in the role Valencia does at the moment. Scored again last week so he still has it in his boots. Eggs you could fit the mold of advance scout. See any more gems lately?

...I fear seeing the likes of a 15 year old Rooney is a once in a lifetime incident.
Like you posted earlier his productive career so far has spoke volumes for club and country. I know we have mixed anxiety from many about his return. I personally don't see it I think he has two to three years in his tank if used wisely. If Koeman and Walsh are really on board to get him this summer they have a good conception on his contribution to this mega transformation we are witnessing before our very eyes at Everton. He may not fit the young blazing speed mold but his intelligence should overcome some of that with precision awareness of the game.

I think last Sunday showed that Rooney still has plenty to offer a Premiership club.
He lasted the full game and as usual worked hard and never hid.
Does he have the enthusiasm and energy to do it all over again next season ?
Would he be prepared to go back to Everton and play for his club as a very good player but not the player that he was at his best ?
Is that important to him?
Does he believe that a fresh challenge could invigorate his career ?
Is he still heavily influenced by is agent ?

I think these are the deciding factors and not financial. I think in England it is Everton or no one for Rooney and if Everton are not interested only then would it be China.

I'd be very surprised if Rooney went to China. MLS at some point, perhaps. But not China.

Would love to see him in an Everton shirt at the right price. He still has something to offer at this level.

Indeed.
The buzz around the club about the kid called Rooney was widespread.
It was a time of poor footy and the local lad giving us a glimmer of hope was boss.
Decent crowds for youth games etc just to see the lad.
Seeing him score at a pissing down Fratton Park and giving it loads was epic to see live.
The way he left hurt, and cut deep.
I hated Stretford.

I know loads think differently to me, but he's always still been ours in my blue tinted eyes.
