It really wouldn't be. Gazza & Ginola were both mid 30s. Rooney is 31.Rooney is not the Rooney of old.
We should not be going anywhere near him.
It would be akin to when Walter Smith bought Gazza and Ginola.
Sad times.

Mate, give your head a wobble.Clearly he's not in shape. He has a beer belly for gods sakes. But signing him would help us in so many ways that it's total no brainer for me.
Koeman would push him back into shape again and he can definitely help us go forward. Anyone saying otherwise is on a high horse imho.
I get the whole he's better than Kone or Valencia, and I get that he would make us stronger.
But so would about 59000 other footballers. It doesn't have to be Rooney.
What worries me is the very slight possibility he might actually believe itNiapper you are a very dangerous individual
It doesn't have to be, but then if his wages were reasonable why shouldn't it be?
If we sign him with no sentiment, purely because the manager thinks he'll improve the team, then what's the problem? Koeman won't sign him because he wants to write a romantic last chapter for the movie script of his life. If Koeman signs a player then he thinks they'll improve us; there is no sentiment involved.
That's exactly it. I really don't want it to be some crap romantic gesture when someone better/cheaper/younger could have come in.

Signing Rooney doesn't mean we won't make other good signings though.

Don't think Koeman or Moshiri for that matter are the romantic gesture type mate, the manager will only have him if he thinks he brings something to the playing side of the team, Moshiri ditto with maybe one eye on the commercial benefits of bringing him in.
