Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

I'd have him m back cos of his experience and he can still produce the unexpected, we'd give him the platform to get fit he would be ideal for EL. Money should not even be an issue if he really is a true blue and wants to make up for the past, surely he's got enough for his family's future

He may be fat and past it (according to some) but he can still pick a pass out, and if we still have Rom for next season, that may work out quite well to get in behind people with an early quality ball.

I give it 10 games before fans realise he isn't very good and the moaning n booing begins

If he signs that is. Fingers crossed he goes somewhere else
This is my other concern about him after his fitness.

If we do buy him I think the majority of fans will be behind him initially. But it will be a very short leash. If he doesn't produce immediately it won't take long before fans start getting on his back. And even if he does well initially, it won't take much of a barren run to get them started either. There are many Everton fans out there that really do dislike the guy intensely. It could create a vitriolic atmosphere on match days that could adversely affect team performance.

If he signs, it'll be because Koeman thinks he can improve the team/squad.

So give it chance before writing this hypothetical move off as a disaster fgs.

..off to China. Two year contract, Coleen staying at home with the kids.

You mentioned this previously mate regarding his agent being in China so I'm assuming you've heard some kind of deal has been struck.

What do players do when they already have enough money to last a hundred lifetimes? They go and earn some more!

..I agree with everybody who suggest a move to China doesn't make sense for a number of reasons but I was told last month that Stretford was out there tying up a 2 year deal. The source is good but I suppose things might have happened since then or I was given misinformation. I dare say we'll soon find out but I'm just passing on what I was told.

Let's not forget that it won't only be the player who makes a fortune, so will everybody connected with him.

Indeed! Off to China - if he can find the right club. The teams in the major centres (Beijing, Shanghai) are already capped out I understand.

One last big pay day for his agent I should imagine eggs. Sad state of affairs if that's the level he's looking to finish at though. Money talks I guess.

I actually watched a game a few weeks ago as well. The standard was abysmal and if you were a top players going over there you will be in for a shock. Haven't seen enough yet though to judge if it's a worse standard than the A league which can be pretty abysmal most weekends.

I'd only be ok with signing him for a season or two if we were then able to ship him to china ourselves and recoup the investment

We should debate the merits and risks of this transfer the same way we do for any other. One camp is basically saying we shouldn't be bringing up any of the potential positives and the other camp saying we shouldn't discuss the downsides. Being an Everton supporter didn't factor into Wayne's decision all those years ago and it shouldn't be a factor in deciding whether to recruit him now. If RonKo things he will improve us then fine. Rooney will have to deal with the baggage of the past and the expectation that comes with the hype and his huge wages and he shouldn't expect special favours from the support.

Said before if Koeman/Walsh go for it he'll have my full support the same as all Everton players. But that doesn't stop you having concerns about it. I was previously in favour but his fitness levels this season are changing my opinion. And expressing that opinion is what this threads all about isn't it?

You can't deny that there are a section of fans, and probably quite a large one, who will already be sharpening the knives waiting for him to fail should he come back.
