Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

It seems no one on here is considering how intimidating it would be for Wayne. The pressure would be unbearable. He sees the reception our current homegrown no 10 gets, who by many is still looked at as 'the future'. Could you imagine Goodison Park if he failed to produce what was expected, on his return visit, for a fat pay cheque? I'm not one to be angry at a player, more disappointed in the result, but my word, if Rooney signed for 150,000 a week, and just didn't show up, or didn't have the legs, I would be going off my rocker. He not only used the club as a platform years ago, but also robs us of a salary when he knows he is on the decline, I'd say he would go down as one of Goodison's most hated.

The difference is Rooney is a real footballer who has handled fan pressure from United and England in the biggest games his entire career. He's not one of the schoolboys in the current squad whose game disintegrate as soon as they year one moan of disgruntlement from the lower Gwladys.

Then surely your anger should be projected towards the scouting and management system? It's not as if there's going to be any surprises when he signs so how would it be his fault?

He'd be within his rights to be miffed with scouting, management, the board and the player. The player bears some responsibility to justify his salary, we all have appraisals at work, footballer's are just a bit more public!

I disagree when you say 'his entire career'. The last 2 seasons he hasn't done much for either team.

sure, but to push for 150,000 and know your not worth half that is what I would consider using the club for the 2nd time in 1 career.
