Worked harder then Lukaku thats for sure

Another good shift tonight which will only benefit him in the long run. Make no mistake that was a bloody tough workout for the majority of them because it really should have been a pre season game but it had the importance of being a EL qualifier.

Faded after 55/60 minutes and not surprisingly as I expected nearly all of them to around that period.

Stupid post. Looked sluggish against a pub team. We missed a focal point to our attack tonight and if people would rather Rooney's 'workrate' than Rom's goals, I despair.

Rooney was by no means the worst tonight but to try and use his 'workrate' as a positive is pathetic.

I was disappointed. I really hope this is a blip and not a trend. He looked like an older man tonight... combined well with Klassen but his touch was pretty poor and he couldn't get behind a mediocre Slovakian side. Hopefully Koeman's ruthlessness extends to Rooney if this continues, but I will give him the benefit of a doubt for now

What we saw tonight is what we have got: a player who has no position, cannot hack it in his new 'role' as a 'number 10', is never going to be the Rooney we knew, and who is trying too hard to prove he is still the Rooney we knew.

I cannot see one reason why he should have stayed on the pitch tonight, what his contribution is expected to be, what his best position is now that he is (way) past his best, or for what reason (apart from the fact he is 'Wayne Rooney'), that he should be selected again.

This man is finished as a top player and those who are fawning over his return and praising him for 'trying' are deluding themselves.

He has nothing to offer on the pitch and all we have got is the Man Utd Rooney they were desperate to offload - not the one we were desperate to keep 13 long years ago.
