Beardsley is a bit of a forgotten man, mostly because his RS-association is more well-known to the wider football world. But he was excellent for us, and that Del through-ball yesterday was pure Beardsley.

Yes definitely agree with you about his through ball. But Sheeds used to be able to do that and deliver a cross that literally the forwards need to run onto in order to score. There weren't many a match but they were devastating like what Deulefeu can do?

Del has a lot to prove until he reaches Beardsley status, and even more until he gets to Sheedy's level.

His style of play is similar, tho' I found Sheedy more direct and Beardsley more cute (not his face, obviously lol i mean his trickery).

Got a positive feeling about Del, he could become a great player for us.

100% agree. He has a few more years learning ahead of him relative to the ages of Sheeds and Beardsley when they were plying for us. Massively improved since his trial period too.

Fair result but if brown shoes cannot find a way to win these games he is going to see his team break up over the next few transfer windows.

A league cup might make the fans happy but mid table and and a Europa spot will see our best players move on.

I think Europa league might keep a few of them but the Europa is gonna be difficult to get in considering you have Southampton, West ham and Leicester/Palace to compete with never mind just Spurs and Kopites.

Or what if they're a bunch of young lads who all enjoy working together every day (which I'm told is the case from a mate who works at the club) and see themselves improving as players and getting well paid at the moment plus having loads of opportunities to progress in the future? I think you might underestimate the human value of going to work every day and enjoying it

We're not far away at all from having top team. One step would been able to defend crosses...

Other than that, good point away at a team that have played some good stuff this season.

I think we are a new top keeper away from having a team that will credibly and reliably challenge for the top 4-7 places. That seems to me to be the main noticeable difference outside of city, arsenal and united so far this season. We are not alone in that though - Mignolet lets the RS down most weeks too according to the sensible ones among that lot. Boruc isn't good enough at Soton for them to be reliable challengers, begovic is a good keeper but he's nowhere near as good as courtois so you know as soon as he's back chelsea will be right back. Lloris is perhaps world class at spurs. Adrian at West ham isn't world class.

Agree with that in general mate - except Boruc hasn't played for Southampton for nearly 2 years haha! Forster is a good keeper for them but he's injured all season - Stekelenurg is okay but not as good as Howard.

Adrian is a good keeper but yeh, not world class. Lloris is by far the best keeper after De Gea, Hart, Cech and Courtois - possibly even as good as Cech and Hart.

The manager should be able to come up with a change of tactics and using subs to over come the likes of WHU if we are to move up.
