Where's the root of Everton's problems?

The Moyes era was fine, no money yes but at least we did have a few good moments and many understood the mest we had to move on from.
But we went from no platform to a stable club.
The last 5 years have been a disaster, just becuase we throw money around things ae no better.

...yep, and it really is down to appointing the right Manager/DoF. Until we get those appointments right, it will be a struggle.

When City became rich, they struggled for quite a few seasons. Success wasn’t instant.

I didn't say it was better.

But 20+ years of barely treading water, missed opportunities and frankly plain lies to keep his trainset.

You're clearly a huge fan of his so probably best just agree to disagree.

It's a perfect storm of:

Poor recruitment
Poor quality footballers
Footballers who aren't personally motivated to win
Poor business management
Inability to offload deadwood
Fear of relegation
The pandemic

And Jimmy Martin.

How frequently are teams fouling their opponents across Europe? Issue number 338 of the CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post answers this question using the data provided by InStat. At the level of the five major European leagues, the lowest foul frequency was measured for Arsenal (one foul every 10’44”), while Getafe is at the bottom end of the table (one foul every 5’44”).

Apart from Getafe, the highest foul frequency per big-5 league was measured for Hellas Verona (5’54”), FSV Mainz (6’30”), AS St-Etienne (7’10”) and Fulham FC (7’48”). Conversely, apart from Arsenal, the following teams committed the least fouls per minute: FC Barcelona (10’29”), Bayern Munich (10’19”), SSC Napoli (9’37”) and Nîmes Olympique (9’13”).
Out of all the 31 leagues surveyed, the extreme values were measured for FC Zenit (one foul every 12’34”) at one end and for two Greek teams at the other: PAS Giannina and Volos NFC (one foul every 4’51”). Eleven Greek top division clubs are among the 20 ones committing the most fouls per minute. Conversely, eight Russian teams are among the 20 with the lowest foul frequency.

I think that says we stand off teams and aren't aggressive enough.

I always think we do better when playing with aggression and making sure the opposition know they're in a game. Not dirty, just competitive.

What causes Everton FC to continuously let themselves and the fans down?
For the past 5 years a lot of money more than ever before has been pumped into this club but we cant seem to get to the next level.

Why is this?

Is the mentality within the club from the top?
Is it Moshiri
Is the DOF (Brands & Walsh)?
Is it the managers?
Is it the players?
Is it the wrong type of players for certain managers styles when they arrive?
Is all of the above combined?

I mean all jokes aside we've had 4 managers and 2 DoF within 5 years that cant be good but how do we fix it?

...and no Ye Ma isn't an option.
Simple answer is we're cursed

For what very little it's worth the last 15 months have finally quelled the myth that somehow the fans are to blame for our failures over the last 30 years.

This season has shown that in actual fact the Evertonians have been keeping this team from being much, much worse.

It's the fans fault for not being there.

Problem is the fans will win us points at home. But we will be worse away due to the atmosphere. So we'll be back where we started. But you are right, for nearly every team the fans make a big difference

She is after the night I’ve had..

back on topic... a very well put over question.... we all could do with the correct answer

I can’t remember the last time you saw players sprinting and running to free up space or to get the ball. No point in players like James when we don’t have attackers that can run. I watch other teams and can’t believe the movement they have off the ball. The amount of times you see our player with the ball holding his hands out because there’s no options. And The fact we still play Seamus (he gave us everything) but he needs replacing. And unfortunately holegate isn’t the answer.

Pickford (on recent form)
Godfrey, Digne, Allan , Doucoure, DCL and maybe Richy/Rodriguez are good enough for where we want to be. Davies and Mina/Keane are fine as squad players. We urgently need some quality on our right side and at center midfield , players who are dynamic and can move the ball forwards quickly and accurately...
