Who should replace Frank Lampard?

For those calling for Dyche, I see the impulse for a manager who can set us up tidy and protect the club from losses, but I would suggests Pepe Bordalas as a more intriguing hire in the same vein, who may have a little more progressivism. Dyche I think might save us from a drop initially but I see no reason over time we wouldn't repeat Burnley's fate. And personally I worry about him politically at our club. That his hard headedness could become volatile behind closed doors does not seem implausible.

If you look at Bordalas's history with Getafe he was extremely astute in playing the bigger clubs and mustering results with matchup dependent tactics. Broadly his squads were defensive minded with selective counters and intelligent pressing but with moments where they could open up matches. We'd protect dropping points I suspect but also could grow from that into a more formidable side. And after his short stint at Valencia going poorly (for a lot of reasons beyond himself) I think he may look us at a viable option.
My thing with Dyche is two-fold:

1/ Burnley players rebelled against him.

2/ If he saves us we get him for a few years and the football will be dreadful.

Obviously point 1/ is the biggest consideration right now, because if he's an arsehole...and it appears he is...that lot will down tools.

Selling my season ticket each week if it's Dyche.

Sorry, but I am not wasting my one life on this planet watching football with him in charge.

Past two matches have been hard enough. It's not fun anymore.
I remember coming out of every game after we’d played Burnley and saying I don’t know how their fans watch that football every week, pure ale house tactics it would make my eyes bleed. If he were to become manager I’d hope he’d not be so agricultural and he’d adopt a bit more progressive way of playing, but I don’t know.

Thank you for giving us that insight. I just know the board won’t even know who you are talking about. They just don’t know have the brain function to think outside the box.

Can't imagine if the club do sack Lampard they will go with some out-there European appointment. Would be such a big adjustment to the club and being so close to the drop with a few months left do they have time to get up to speed?

Guy Brighton hired, brought into a much more stable club, got 3 defeats and 2 draws from first 5 games, would the club survive on that?

Tommy Tuchel might fancy another crack at the PL, might be pie in the sky but it's amazing what the pull of millions can do. I want a good manager but to be fair, you'll never know how any individual will do until they've had a crack.

I am not a Burnley expert but can't recall Burnley players rebelled. I thought after so many years the chemistry was gone & they were not scoring enough goals. Short term i'd have him. Long term i am not sure he has any other type of football in his locker than 4-4-2 / hard working / hitting the big strikers.

This is it. It mostly is. My point though was that itls not the owner but the DoF making the vast majority of transfer decisions in consultation only with the manager.

It would have been far better to have one person calling the shots: the manager. His job rest on successful recruitment.
100% agree. It either needs to be the manager or the DOF. We've had this weird halfway house where there is complete uncertainty about the role of the recruitment at the club for years and it needs to stop..

For me, the DOF, if you have the role, sets transfer strategy, recruits players and directs footballing matters - they might consult with the manager but ultimately the DOF is accountable.

If they aren't doing that you may as well leave it to the manager.
