why are we so dull to watch?

In what context does that make sense. You’re pulling comments up from before the transfer window finished.

If you’re saying he’s improved the squad but we’re performing the same as Silva and Allardyce, then he really isn’t getting the best out of the squad is he?
How many of the squad that Ancelloti brought in played last night?

Football in general has been boring for about 4/5 years now. Save the odd match its almost a waste of time even bothering. I used to watch other games and MOTD but I just can't be bothered anymore. This has been like this before covid and now with no fans its just a chore. I can't think of any teams in the league save maybe Leeds who are exciting to watch and only them because Biesla is a kamikaze coach. UEFA/FIFA and their greed and corruption are stifling the game. Something needs to give.

I mean I've watched every 90 mins bar one game and on balance I would say we've been good to watch.

We have obviously dropped off in the last month - injuries and fatigue no doubt playing a part in that.

But come on... we play some tasty footy when we want to

First seven games of the season, since the derby we have been awful.

Simply not the case.

Beat Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, drew at OT. Yeah those teams weren't in good form yada yada yada but still have to be beat. And whilst for the full 90 we're not exactly free flowing, we stay solid and play our footy in spells - that's our style. Anyone expecting Everton to play open expansive football with this squad needs a clip round the ear. BUT in those spells we play some great passing footy, back to front, side to side, with plenty of one touch combinations and individual flair.

That 3-3 at OT sums our season up for me. Throughout the game we tried to stay solid and compact and save for some individual errors could argue we deserved to win. But we also played some lovely combination football (not all of which ended up in goals)... and rescued it at the end which speaks to squad togetherness and a never say die attitude.

Worth a re-watch that game. Missing quite a few big players too

That's cool, we differ in what we think is good football but we are on the same page overall.

We're playing a hyper-defensive formation to cover for the fact that we have no midfielders. We have no subs that can change the game. The link-up play from the midfielders we do have right now is poor.

We've struggled to break down set defenses all season. We can counterattack when we have the link-up play, but we tend to be lost once the opposition has ten men behind the ball. When we can't get the ball forward quickly, we rarely score.

It's why we beat teams that are looking for three points when we're healthy, but struggle when the opposition is satisfied with one. It's why we're doomed once we go behind, and the opposition refuses to come forward unless we're exposed.

who would you have played instead given the vast array of options at the managers disposal?
Absolutely anybody with pace instead of sigurdsson and Davies, not 6 defenders.

We were depleted yesterday but let's not make out that's the first time our lineup has been very weird.

Fluent flowing football... no
pacey players or pace in our attacks... no
dominating games... no
entertaining certainly not...

apart from the derby, spurs (fa cup game) and the west brom game v 10 men weve hardly got anyone out of their seats.

Answered your own question there mate

I think we play good football in spells. I'd like us to be more possession based in totality and play a higher line to get our best players on the ball in their best positions... but Rome wasn't built in a day. I think Carlo knows this isn't possible with the current crop of players.

But on balance I think this season we have been a good watch. I've enjoyed it anyway - hope for the future!
