No... he's a lovely fella but money buys you the top 4... we dont have it. Move along ....nothing to see here. Do you ask the same of motorsports ? Money rules this market now. If you dont have the green you will fall by the way side sooner rather than later. If however you can keep your best players fit and firing I dont see why not.....but however, how often does than happen. These days you have a second team able to compete with the first.....we dont have that. Were an arrow rather than mercedes

The thing is folks, champions league places aren't won at Old Trafford, The Emirates etc or even at home against the other top 6 teams.

They are won against the likes of West Ham, Crystal Palace, Leicester and the middle 10 teams.

Are we capable of beating them? Some would say not without the mythical playmaker.

I'd say with the skill players we have already, a great deal of belief (which Martinez appears to be good at instilling in them) and a good dollop of luck with decisions and injuries then we can beat them.

I've said from the start though, we have to give him 5 years.

I hope the players feel the same (and Stones is back on board for the ride) and if the core group of stars stick around, I reckon they will reach their goal within 4 years.

The team and indeed the squad is the best we have ever had in the premier league era.

Let's celebrate and support the players we have instead of lamenting the ones we don't.

We are Everton. We have Ross Barkley. We have Romelu Lukaku. We have John Stones. We have Gerard Deulofeu.

Who would have believed that 3 years ago?

Well, it's not 3 years ago and the glass ceiling mentality of Moyes and Neville have long since been banished from the whole club so it's about time the supporters of Everton followed suit.

We dont have the money....no matter what or who the hell we buy...even if we managed the incredible, it would never be sustainable without investment. So we manage champions league one year then scrape relegation the next.....no ta

Benteke errrr think Lukaku was a better buy anyways, as for ozil - have i missed the season he played a blinder or something, cos last i saw he's inconsistant and divides arsenals fans never mind anyone elses

ozil is world class mate. assists for fun, just had injuries at arsenal.

benteke has the same scoring record as lukaku so can't say one without the other. Rodgers gets sacked and they play up to benteke he will score goals.

Nice sentiment but if you really think the glass ceiling mentality of the club is gone, then you need to question why Stones put in his transfer request, and why there wasn't a single member of the squad telling him he had to stay.

The best chance we are likely to have of getting Champions League football vanished 18 months ago when we were within touching distance and choked spectacularly.

Any hope of finishing top 4, other than a massive fluke will involve a new owner ploughing substantial funds into the team. That is the (unpalatable) truth.

I'm sure I saw Lukaku and Naismith urging him to stay and I believe the manager when he said Stones didn't really want to hand in a request.

Besides, I'd rather wish the best for the team than fear the worst.

Try it mate. You'll feel better.

To be fair, yeah those two did put their head above the parapit a bit, although Romelu may have had his own reasons.

I'm realistic mate, saves a lot of heartache in the long run.

Has the players, the climate, and the ability to do it. He's shown he can set us on long winning runs. Sadly his own selections let him down too often. When he 'had' to win last season, he did, being defensively solid and rattling off a few wins in a row, but every time you think he's turned a corner he drops Robles, he picks Alcaraz and Atsu in the biggest game of the season, he'll bench Deulofeu after three assists, he'll play Lukaku on the wing. He is his own worst enemy.

Lukaku, Naismith, Jagielka and Barry all were quoted as telling him to stay.
