Final question mate. If I buy a new computer, will I able to install 7 from my disk and upgrade again to 10 for free after June?

Hmmm....subjective. Technically the install is tied to your motherboard. So by buying a new computer you should technically have to buy another license. However, MS are generally very good at letting you reactivate on a new motherboard if you give them a call. That isn't guaranteed, so your mileage may be different.

would also like to mention that if it's a new Pc, As in full system, Most will come with windows 10 already installed, If not, Windows 8.1..then obviously you can upgrade THAT version to 10.

Hey JR, how are you finding it? Just ordered a Lumia 640 which I think will come with 8, but I'm planning on putting 10 on asap.

Well okay that's a lie had some trouble all day. Had some SIM ERROR Message.

Any help?

Just wasted a morning after keyboards stopped working suddenly and separately on both old desktop and new laptop (with no connected software issues or browser history)... Great fun using the screen keyboard to try and search for solutions.

Still have no idea why they both started working again, so I am assuming silent updates. The only difference I could find in rummaging around in the Device-Manager was that Windows had decided to rename the Keyboard folder to a 'Human Interface Device' one.

Thanks, Windows 10.

Ubuntu is terrific, used it for years but used solely it is quite limiting. Great for emails, surfing, music.. terrible for gaming. If however you use a pc as just a pc you cant go wrong with ubuntu...and its freee !!!!

Microsoft accused of dirty tricks after customers who click on red cross get Windows 10 upgrade.

Bill Gates's Microsoft has been accused of dirty tricks after apparently fooling users into upgrading to Windows 10 by changing a setting on a pop up so people who click on a red cross in the corner — which usually closes a window - are instead deemed to have accepted an upgrade. The controversy is the latest to affect the tech giant as it struggles to adapt to new developments in technology and ways in which people access the internet.

The change came about because the upgrade to Windows 10 has been classed as a recommended upgrade for Windows users, many of whom have agreed to a setting that recommended updates are automatically updated for security reasons.

Previously Microsoft advised people not wishing to upgrade to click the red cross. Microsoft says anyone who inadvertently agrees to the upgrade — being dubbed "updategate" — can reverse the process if they wish. "If you click on OK or on the red "X", you're all set for the upgrade and there is nothing further to do," says Microsoft on its website.

"When you close this pop up, your PC will upgrade at the scheduled time. Based on customer feedback, in the most recent version of the Get Windows 10 (GWX) app, we confirm the time of your scheduled upgrade and provide you an additional opportunity for cancelling or rescheduling the upgrade."

However some technology experts said the latest change was a dirty trick. PC World editor Brad Chacos wrote: "I personally use and love Windows 10, but deploying these dirty tricks only frustrates long-time Windows users who have very valid reasons to stick with operating systems they already know and love."

Microsoft has already come under fire for pushing the Windows 10 upgrade on consumers, and for a number of glitches in the supposedly simplified Windows 10. These have included computers being unable to upgrade with SD cards in SD slots and apps being deleted without warning. One man who left his PC to upgrade overnight woke up to find his private collection of pornography being used as a slideshow which was spotted by his wife.

Microsoft expert Paul Thurrott says the increasing capabilities of smart phones and tablets — now able to do most of the jobs previously done by Microsoft software — could mean the end for the tech giant.

"This is a potential extinction moment," said Thurrott, according to The Express."With Android and iOS playing the role of the asteroid that is hurtling to earth to kill off the Windows dinosaurs."

hello kith, I added a few vids ^^^ a few pages back on the very subject..
this guide is only for people who have ALREADY used the free windows 10 update and it's not worked properly, Or then want to clean install !!!!

windows 10 will update free of charge and will become activated from your windows 7, 8 so no need to reactivate with a clean install.

1. you will need a formatted usb stick (fat32) 8gb and above.
2. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
2a. go to download tool....download tool !!

3. have a cuppa...
  1. Run the media creation tool.
  2. Select Create installation media for another PC.
  3. Select the language, edition and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. cpu dependant !!!!!
  4. Follow the steps to create the installation media, then select Finish when it’s done.
  5. When you’re ready to perform a clean installation, turn on your PC, insert the USB flash drive you created, then shut down your PC.
  6. Restart your PC, then press any key to boot from the USB flash drive.

If you restart your PC and your current version of Windows starts, you might have to open a boot menu or change the boot order in your PC’s BIOS or UEFI settings so that your PC boots from the media. To open a boot menu or change the boot order, you’ll typically need to press a combination of keys (such as F2, F12, Delete or Esc) immediately after you turn on your PC. For instructions on changing the boot order for your PC, check the documentation that came with your PC or go to the manufacturer’s website.

If changing the boot menu or order doesn’t work, try again by signing in to Windows, shutting down, then starting your PC.

  7. On the Install Windows page, enter your language and other preferences, then select Next.
  8. Select Install Windows.
  9. On the Enter the product key to activate Windows
  10. when it asks for a key.....skip it ( if you have already updated your pc to windows 10 but want a clean install)
  11. you should of course delete / format all partitions from your c: drive during the beginning installation.
  12. hope that kinda helps...really hard to be more specific due to hardware differences.
the above information is from the above link I provided.
I've got a much easier method.

1. Throw windows laptop in the bin

2. Buy a Mac
