The media have had 12 years to highlight these issues, why did they only start 2 weeks before the tournament?
They didn’t. Have a Google mate. There’s been objections and stories about this for a decade.

There are going to be hardly any fans at this are there?
It's going to have all the atmosphere of behind closed doors football isn't it

The groups I’m in, the England tickets are more or less being given away at this stage.
3,000 from England expected, 2,500 from Wales. That’s the lowest for years.
Football isn’t really about just football is it? It’s about the whole experience and for the western world, that usually means, for a World Cup, few beers, soak in the culture.
A quick look on the portal shows tickets for a fair few games, including QFs etc. if you take away the enjoyment of football you’ll find people won’t really want to spend thousands.
I really hope hardly anyone turns up and the fan zones over there are empty.
I've got no issue with them banning beer if it had been part of the bid.
Wonder who is the least trustworthy. FIFA or the Qatari's?
If there is no atmosphere then it will be a rubbish tournament
I think Qatar is the worst.
FIFA is probably still riddled with corruption, but it’s improved massively. They just saw the dollar signs and ran.
Qatar before bidding knew their own beliefs, laws, temperatures and still went ahead and bid.
12 years on, and they got the World Cup moved, alcohol, homosexuality, are move or less banned.
There’s no accommodation, and what accommodation exists, is sub standard.
I think everyone accepts it was a massive mistake now, expect those who lined their pockets. They could have Sportswashed their way in different ways, like they have actually done, successfully over the last 12 years.

Pretty much why I’ve stayed away.
I’ve said it loads, I sound like a broken record at this stage. But a holiday isn’t fun if I’m constantly on edge about what is, and what isn’t allowed.
The locals don’t want it, and it shows.
Sadly, it’s the most open World Cup for years and we should all be excited, but it’s December and it’s just not right.
Honestly I think this World Cup will be a footnote in years to come
They'll show the trophy lift and just move on whenever it's recapped
FIFA will want to pretend it never happened
Russia and Qatar back to back has been a really bad look I think. Two horrible regimes that have continued to be horrible
Heaven help them if Trump is back in office by the time 2026 rolls around
I think we'll be seeing a lot of "safe" options for the next 10-20 years. They'll have had had their fingers burned by this one

I've no issue with Qatar bidding, that's up to them. Fifa totally ignoring their own technical report saying it was impossible in favour of wheelbarrows full of cash is where the fault lies.
