Worst act you ever saw live

…Dylan was brilliant when I saw him, but he’s another who apparently has very bad days.

Dylan is the worst gig I’ve ever been to, in Liverpool a few years ago.

Mumbling, out of tune, incoherent, song arrangements completely different to the original. Dreadful.

I don’t mind live versions being changed at all, but people genuinely didn’t know what song he was playing, then 30 seconds before the end would go - “oh… Blowin’ in the wind. That’s what it is”.

Dreadful performance, and have loved Dylan since I was a kid.

The Pogues! Loved every single thing they'd done. Sound was so bad I couldn't make out what song it was and I knew every one off by heart. Left after 20 mins. Never been so disappointed in a band.

Went to a filming of the pub landlord they tried to stop me leaving. Was about 3 hours long, Jason Donavon was a guest. It was boiling at utter garbage. I left in the end they weren't happy.

Also went to see that little bald headed guy with glasses who wears clothes with big collars. Was in the pub by the interval. He did a TV show I think reviewing TV programmes he was terrible

Most of the worst gigs I’ve been to have been hip hop gigs of artists I enjoy.

Unless it’s proper band style stuff with actual musicians like The Roots etc then hip hop imo is generally absolutely awful in a concert environment.

It’s usually just a big old mess of dudes talking/shouting over each other all the time, poor delivery of lyrics relative to the recordings and some annoying as hell hype man constantly shouting the same inane soundbites.
Some of the best gigs I've been to are Big daddy Kane, Nas, Wu tang, Pharaoh Monch, KRS 1, probably a few others I've forgotten

Fair enough, I like the genre of music but just think it translates horribly in a concert environment.

Also resent paying money for a live show and then it just being some guy rapping over a backing track.
Who are you talking about and where did you see them? Most of the hip hop gigs I've been to outside London I haven't enjoyed.

Also the acts are always horrendously late

…. So many…. What sticks out the most are:

Ryan adams 2004 at Royal court, fell off the stage and broke his wrist during a song. End of gig.

Ian Brown: Cambridge corn exchange, he got very upset when everyone kept shouting for him to play stone roses songs while his ears must of been particularly bad that evening as some of the notes he hit were presumably for the loose dogs running around outside the venue. Proper gash.

Howling bells who obviously thought they were the prodigy at Leeds festival, stopping midway through their second, out of tune, morbid, out of date, tuneless self loathing rock song stating “what’s wrong with you? why aren’t you dancing?” ….

The killers at the same Leeds festival (I think) , absolutely going through the motions…. Especially the lead singer who had as much charisma and charm as the view through the festival toilet seats.

Steven fretwell at the sun dance festival Leicester, out of tune, sloppy guitar work, droning on and on…. This monotony was only relieved a little by one member of the crowd shouting “cheer up Steven“ after he finished each of his ten songs ?

Stewart Lee: Cambridge corn exchange, couldn’t deal with one particular member of the crowd enjoying themselves and “whooping” so cut his set short by 20 minutes.

primal scream at Brixton academy. Absolutely incredible but the sound system was so loud my ears were still ringing for 3 days afterwards

I saw that Stone Roses gig at Reading after Reni and Squire had left. It really was as bad as they say...

But the worst gig ever was Finlay Quaye at Glasto in 97. I had no interest in going to see him bit my girlfriend had brought my ticket, so that was that.

His band come on, but Finlay doesn't so his band start jamming. He comes on mid Jam and just stands there. His band stop, he start singing (horribly) so his band start playing again. He walks off the stage so his band stop playing. Finlay comes on again. This carried on for about 20 minutes, his band looking embarrassed and anxious. There's about 10,000 people in the crowd watching this. Eventually Finlay comes on again and says in this ridiculous fake jamaican accent. I TINK SUMWAN PUT SUMTING IN MAH DRINK. Then he wanders off stage and never comes back. His band carry on noodling for a bit and then [Poor language removed] off too. It was the absolute pits.

There's a good clip on twitter of a recent gig he did where the venue promoter comes on stage and tells him to [Poor language removed], so it looks like his act is still the same.

Ginger Baker when he toured as Baker- Gervitz Army, or similar. Stoned out of his mind , couldnt play and reacted to the boos with “ Yeah, yeah , I’ll blow your mind in a minute”. He never did though .
I know someone who was a roadie with Ginger Baker in the very early 70s, maybe the Airforce period, he said he was one of the most ratty voilent nutters he ever met, full on headcase, amazing drummer though, im actually suprised he lived as long as he did as he seemed totally wasted and messed up as late as 69 with the drugs

John Cale was crap down the docks but i think the wind didnt help as the sound was just going out across the Mersey into oblivion

Leonard Cohen at the Valencia bull ring, did about ten minutes then had to go off stage because he felt unwell. Told to keep the tickets and he'd reschedule, never did.
