Would you pay £24m for Lukaku?

What is the maximum you'd pay for Rom?

I think the lad's just massively ambitious. He wants to make it to the very top of the game and I appreciate his honestly, frankly. He's got a big mouth (see Arsenal comments), but I reckon he means well. I find it frustrating that he seems to think he can do better than us (and doesn't mind implying it publicly), as I'm an Evertonian and you probably couldn't find a better fit for him currently, but he's not wrong.

this is it at the end of the day - he thinks he believes he's champions league quality atm, he's probably right, he's ahead of aguero in the top goal scorers charts over last 2 years and up there with suarez and van persie. he can become a champions league player with us, no doubt. he just wants to be doing it now, i have no problems with that. ronaldo is a cocky so and so and he's the best in the world, lukaku can back it up as well.

Martinez is either
A. really confident of us signing him or
B. very naive in putting all our eggs in one basket while other potential targets (bony, bacca, remy) etc. No doubt move clubs I guess time will tell but if RM messes this one up we have a mountain to climb should we fail to bring in a quality striker

Bony, bacca or remy haven't moved either yet though

Would screenshot and post it on here but no idea how!?

If you save the screenshot to an image hosting site (eg tinypic, photobucket etc) you can post it here using the 'Image' tab on the top of the box you type your post in.

Not what I said.

Maybe I misinterpreted?

No, it's the little things like Mourinho commenting that he isn't telling the truth about certain things, belittling Arsenal as a club for no reason and generally being deluded in his statements.

I have no problem whatsoever with a guy thinking and acting like a winner, but I think Lukaku crosses the line from being determined and confident into being, to be blunt, a bit of a bell.

That said, I don't hold footballers up as role models - as long as he's good at his job and not biting or going out to injure fellow pros, he can be the biggest bell on the planet for all I care.

This is what puts me off him mate, I disagree that his opinion of himself matches his talent. It's not too far off like but he isn't the finished article like he thinks he is. You're allowed to be amibitious, but being cocky is only allowed if you can back it up.

Let's sign Lukaku for the asking price, get that Bosnian lad in cheap, then go to four players and say;

I'm actually being serious. We've got Barry, let's get Romelu and Besic, then use the loan market again for decent squad expansion.

yeah, at the start i'd say we needed a boss striker, backup striker, (hopefully) a boss winger, a backup for mccarthy and a DM, with a backup right back.

6 overall, barry is in as DM, hopefully besic as McC's backup, lukaku as striker, traore as backup and then the winger. with hibbert coming in i'd be surprised if we went for another RB (not too happy about that, but saving money for lukaku i suppose).

it seems like we'll be adding galloway to that number, a position i didn't count on originally. i reckon we'll be getting a young winger on loan as opposed to a starter like i wanted because i'm not sure pienaar should be starting and would probably prefer mcgeady as backup tbh.

I know what you mean, but I'd still like him to sign.

he's only 21 like, he's not the finished article, but you'd struggle to find anyone at his age with such an impressive scoring record, especially considering he's been playing with WBA and Everton, no offence to us like, ha.

Did he really belittle Arsenal though? He said they were a big club. He just thinks it's weird to choose to move away from Real Madrid and it is to be fair. They're in the top few clubs in world football. Arsenal was a step down for Ozil, there's no doubt about it.

You can be a winner and want to be a winner and NOT be a bell whilst doing it. The fact he wants to win things doesn't make him a bell on it's own.

I like the guy, I think a lot of it is just that he's a kid at the end of the day, but whilst Ronaldo had the cockiness with the talent to match it, Lukaku has done nothing of note at the top level yet, but he's talking like he's a superstar international class striker already. It's premature and just comes off as deluded - there's a difference between saying "My aim to be playing at the very top level and winning titles" and "I should be playing at the very top levels and winning titles" IMO; with Lukaku coming across as the latter.

Robertos opinion is that Lukaku has a phenomenal personality and I think you should trust Roberto on this one.

@toffeejack12 I know he isn't mate, but I think he believes he is. If he comes here and continues to work hard to improve, I'd be over the moon.

Absolutely @Groucho a striker who can hit the back of the net regularly, is a big yes from me.

@Anders at no point did I say I didn't want him.

Wanted to play in England maybe? Didn't like the coaching staff/team mates? Loads of reasons he could have moved, but for Lukaku - a guy who has "stepped down" to two clubs on loan over the last two years - to say it is disrespectful IMO.
