if you think there is a coach who can take us to Europe with Keane, Holgate and Maupay in our squad, then you are wrong
Big difference between qualifying for Europe and to playing the most direct, defensive and boring football of any team in the top 5 leagues in Europe.

Football develops in trends. In recent years football have become much more offensive minded, a lot more goals are scored and the entire world of football moves away from the current Everton team.

If you play offensive football and develop player types that are attractive for other clubs, you will massively increase the value of your squad and it will be a lot easier to attract talent to your club. You will get more tv matches and more tv money. Higher exposure will make you more attractive for sponsors. Who knows, you might even get pre-season friendlies against other opposition than Salford and Coventry. Pre-season prints money for other clubs.

You can be mid-table with 50 points and 40 goals scored and you can have same points tally with 65 goals scored. Financially the latter will make a lot more money and be able to attract much better players.

First line says Lyon's offer is real. Not sure on "Johnny tout seul'?

DNCG is this organization: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direction_Nationale_du_Contrôle_de_Gestion

It says Lyon must raise 80m to appease them, similar to what we go through.

The last line compares Lyon's financial management to something you'd find in folklore.
It's "Johnny's delusion alone" ie he's gone rogue and made the offer, Moshiri style.

I'm still not convinced it's not a phantom bid for whatever reason.

So if Tranmere play better football than us, they might get Real Madrid in a friendly?

They are probably just as likely as Everton to play Real Madrid.

My point is that when you play in the by far most popular league in the world and people worldwide are paying silly money to see your matches on TV, there is a big market to tap into. Money to be earned. Great possibilities to increase the number of fans. Shirts to be sold. Very good TV money even for friendlies.

The league smashed old goalscoring records last season. With an average of 3.28 goals pr game. 19 teams had an average of more than 3 goals a game. The outlier was Everton with 2.39. The by far most boring team to watch for any neutrals. The style of play doesn't make Everton attractive to invite for lucrative pre-season friendlies. It will affect the number of TV matches for the club (and TV revenue).

Last take on that, since we are in the wrong thread for this.
Just accept the current state the club you support is in. We been in 3 relegation fights the last 3 years. Moshiri, our squad, our finances, points deduction. Which of those points make you believe that Everton is underachieving at the moment?
Everyone who watches the games know that our football isn’t the most attractive, and? With this football we kept our historic club in the premier league for a further year and we are going to this again, while clubs like Burnley,Luton last year and probably I Leicester this year try to impress their fans and go down with 30 points.
Every evertonian hope that things change one day and things actually look good at the moment with our new owner, new transfer policy (it seems), new stadium and so on. But until then we have to do what we have to do.
It’s the reality not FM24.
