That's not a real argument. It's the same fallacy as saying "who could we replace Moyes/Martinez/<Insert Manager Here> with - you find a way and move on. If Bolasie was a top tier player like Messi, yeah you'd have a point, but he's not.

As for "form/ability in the past 12 months" - Bolasie hasn't had that either, and you can't compare the form of any other winger because they quite simply haven't been played in the same way Bolasie has; in a system set up to get him the ball.

I genuinely would prefer Deulofeu and Mirallas to Bolasie, and honestly in a different system I'd prefer Lennon - I think we can set up more effectively than hoofball to a crap winger and start not playing like the donkeys we've been in recent months.

He won't be a miss, because we'll change the way we play and bring better players to fit a system in January and the summer. And even if he was a key player, which he really isn't, he would have been out for over a month anyway soon and we've already blown any chance of achieving anything notable in the league anyway, so we may as well take this time to rebuild.

Deulofeu and Mirallas have been here over 2 years each and contributed basically zip! Nice sentiment thinking changing the system will make them better, but they have been crap in Roberto's side and crap in this side when given a chance.

Bolaise has contributed more in his first 13 games than these two jesters in the last 2 seasons.

it's all about opinions of course, but Mirallas has turned out to be a massive dud and the other is basically a prancing show pony who has been bombed out wherever he has played apart from Spain U21's.

I hope they make me eat my words of course, but they won't.

I wouldn't say they haven't contributed anything.

If not for our clueless defending in the first half of last term, Del's partnership with Rom would have had us in the CL places probably.

However, he's been tosh since January and has shown no signs of improvement bar a few glimpses in pre-season, where he looked like he was making an effort.

I hope he gets that form back.

I also wouldn't say Kev has been a dud. He cost us £6mil and was ace in his first 2.5 seasons.

Been pretty poor since then though and only really ever shown flashes of quality.

Both of them need to step up though. They hardly ever played together last season so if both come in and do the jobs they are allocated, we could land on something promising.

It's a long, long time since Kev turned in a run of performances for Everton, rather fanciful to suggest anything is about to change on that front, but we live in hope.

He's obviously going to play Saturday, so lets see how he does. But one swallow does not make a summer, he needs to show a bit of consistency.

As for Del, I think the manager will probably give him one last roll of the dice.

In fairness, the best we've looked this season was with Del playing up top.

He pressed and harried and worked hard. Issue is he can't bloody finish.

No, because you're saying the club should not be critiqued, every supporter should shut off their brain and be happy clappers, or they are not Evertonians.

Just no.
I quite clearly didnt say that but dont let what I wrote get in the way of your opinion of it

Can you remember early last season when this forum was in meltdown thinking Barca would activate their buyback clause? He was playing brilliantly the first part of last season then was mysteriously dropped - as for Mirallas, it was widely regarded that Martinez didnt like him personally hence no time on the pitch.

Short memories some people.

I think Del proved last year he has a great cross in him.

He just doesn't get the ball in enough

Yeah, both he and Seamus are able to pull it off, but their skill is limited compared to Yala's. Seamus just can't whip them as well and Del is obsessed with getting to the byline and messes it up too often. Yala's strength is not only in execution but tactical awareness - he knows how to cross deliciously from deep, and WHEN to do so as well!

So you prefer a player with no heart in Deulofeu and one who has countless times dropped the team in the crap with stupid red cards in Mirallas - never mind the split in the squad the penalty stupidity caused...

so we can bring in better players than Bolasie in january to fit the system, strange as Koeman specifically targetted Bolasie exactly because he was a player who does fit the system and type of attributes he wants in the team

Not a key player, ahh that must he has as many assists as Gueye, Barkley, Mirallas and Holgate put togetehr this season, i mention those 4 mate, because besides Lukaku no one else in the squad has actually created a goal for another player this season besides Bolasie

Assists, Bolasie 4, Lukaku 3, Gueye, Holgate, Barkley, Mirallas - 1 each

As for the sysetm being set up to get Bolasie the ball mate, explaining why the other wigners have all been nothing short of atrocious, was it also set up for Bolasie for most of last season when the same wingers where equally terrible, or are we gonna blame there form then on something else?

How anyone can have a go at Bolasie whilst at the same point championing Del, Kev and Lennon is beyond me

My god where do I start.

Gutting news. Regardless of whether anyone rates the guy or thinks he has been a waste of money nobody would wish a serious injury on any player. Hope the operation goes well and he can be ready for the start of next season. Guess this gives Lennon or Del a chance they may not have had, up to them to take it.
