nope he didn't say that at all unless he wrote it in invisible ink

"Well said Tom, support the club and its players whether you like every player or not
If you dont then youre not really a supporter of Everton FC"

It's right there in black and white. Support the players of the club regardless or you're not a real fan. That's what he said.

Can you remember early last season when this forum was in meltdown thinking Barca would activate their buyback clause? He was playing brilliantly the first part of last season then was mysteriously dropped - as for Mirallas, it was widely regarded that Martinez didnt like him personally hence no time on the pitch.

Short memories some people.

Oh Christ! Evertonian's in creaming their kex because somebody strings 2 decent games together shock! lol

Let's look at the last 2 seasons overall, neither of them have shown any sort of consistency, nor delivered much apart from the odd couple of decent games here and there.

Living in cuckoo land some people.

It must have been some 2 games.

Theyve shown no consistency because THEY WERE DROPPED FROM THE TEAM?

How is this lost on some people? Bolasie has more assists this season BECAUSE HE'S ON THE PITCH AND DEULOFEU ISN'T. On form and confident Mirallas and Deulofeu are 2 of our best players.

I'm not hammering other players.

I'm stating the fact that those players you referenced have not played well this season.

I like Del. I like Kev. I've got plenty of time for Lennon and Ross is boss.

But, none of them have performed this season, and none of them have played as well as Bolasie has for us (and I'm by no means saying Bolasie has been world class or anything).

My concern is we are now left with exactly the same players we had for those positions last term. And in the last two months of last season we were just as bad going forward as we were at defending.

Even if it is Depay coming in in January, we desperately need fresh blood in that role.

Why do you keep banging this drum - no one else but Bolasie has played in anything like the same role, so you can't compare them.

We only know one thing - we've been dire all season with Bolasie as the primary outball. That's what we know; we don't know whether a system change with Deulofeu or Mirallas would have been better because we've had to shoehorn the record signing into the side regardless of form and whether the system with him in at all works.

In an ideal world, he'd have been deservedly dropped for the United game along with Jagielka and Barkley and we wouldn't be having this conversation. But Koeman, for whatever reason, has felt compelled to persist with proven failure. At least now his hand is forced to try something else, and looking at how we've began this season, that really isn't a bad thing.

When Bolasie comes back, expectation will be less and perhaps he'll slot in as the squad player he should be, rather than the main guy he clearly isn't.

And Bolasie has???

Let's agree to disagree mate.

I'll take Bolaise over those 2, he's been here 14 games and you are writing him off, despite the fact he has been our most productive player this season.

I hope we get some new blood in rather than waste more time on Mirallas and Del, but as I said earlier, I hope they both make me eat my words and I would be man enough to say I was wrong if they do.

Agreed apart from the last sentence. Mirallas and Deulofeu aren't two of our best players, but that isn't the point because Bolasie isn't either.

We have a load of absolute crap available in wide areas.

For what feels like the fiftieth time... of course he's been our most "productive" player, as he's given that role. It means nothing if overall production is one shot every two games...

It's like saying Lukaku is our best goalscorer. Well, obviously he is as he's our one striker on the pitch.

Rather misleading that title isn't it! Should have said 4 goals and 8 assists. How many assists has Bolaise got already? :coffee:

Then the manager thinks he deserves to be on the pitch, ahead of the other players we are discussing, which is all that counts at the end of the day so i'm completely missing whatever point it is you are trying to make.

That is my point - the manager is wrong. They're not infallible. See Martinez for details. And this is a forum for discussing Everton.

Koeman has felt the need to persist with Bolasie. My view is that is the completely wrong approach, and he should have been dropped quite a while back. He's not good enough to be an automatic starter regardless of form, and unlike the situation with Lukaku we have other options on the bench for Bolasie.

which is not what you alleged he said in your previous post

If its all the same, i'll take Koeman's view in this instance. He sees them in training every day, he has had long enough to see them all and what they can offer.

Yes managers can make wrong calls, but he has put his faith in the player and I believe having had Del and Kev for the last 2 seasons, he has made the right call. They both need moving on if they do not produce soon. Yes they need time on the pitch to be able to do that and this is their perfect opportunity.
