Yannick Bolasie

...

Again... You can't compare them because those players haven't played the same role or been the same focus for the side as Bolasie has, who has played almost every minute of every game since he joined. Mirallas, Deulofeu and Lennon have been involved as support players for full backs behind them and tasked as the second striker to get into the box, whilst Bolasie has been the outball who is tasked with getting the ball and running it and creating chances. Comparing them really is a case of apples and oranges.

Without Bolasie, we set up to play differently and then you can compare output - until then, you simply can't.

If you want to compare like for like, compare Deulofeu when he had a run of games last year to Bolasie now - and there's only one winner until he was unceremoniously dropped by the joke that was Martinez.

Deulofeu was sensational until the start of December mate, then his form went to utter crap and then he was dropped as the team was in a crap run of form and he paid the price, then again having a player starting who can't last more than 60mins and blows out his arse after 30 is a liability don't you think?

In short Deulofeu - some wonderful skill and talent in the lad, but he's got two of the same flaws that Dorothy's companions had in the wizard of Oz, no heart no courage - shame the other one wasn't missing stamina greater than a 11 year old girl or he'd have all 3.

Your definition of clear cut chance must be comically wrong.

West Brom - away
- First cross after coming on. Barkley header. Six yards out. Missed.
- Late on, puts Rom through one on one with the keeper. Saved.

Sunderland - away
- Cross for Rom in the first half. Saved by Pickford.
- Cross for Rom in the second half. Rom scores.
- Throughball into Mirallas. Saved.

Boro - home
- Cross for Rom's goal.

Bournemouth - away
- Puts in a worldie cross late on. Valencia misses it from five yards out.

Palace - home
- Gets down the left and cuts it back for Gana, who misses one-on-one with Mandanda.

West Ham - home
- Puts it on a plate for Rom, who slots.

Swansea - home
- Drills in a cross that Rom puts over from two yards out.
- Floats in a cross that Barkley takes down. Possibly not a clear cut as Barks did well before missing.

S'ton - away
- Cross for Barkley. Barkley misses.

Just off the top of my head.

What do you mean 'already'?

Deulofeu got 4 goals and 8 assists in 33 appearances last season, Bolasie has 1 goal and 4 assists in 15 appearances this season, so he was on course to get 2/3 goals and 8/9 assists in the same amount of games. In other words, contribute no more than Deulofeu did last season. Don't burn yourself on that tea.

Point taken

Am I missing something here? You are talking about the same Bolasie as me right? You know, the guy who just thumps the ball randomly with his head down?

Yeah mate the same bloke, the one who has 4 assists and should really have had 7-8 but for absolutely sitters he put on a plate for Ross and Rom being missed.

Must have just been lucky, wonder why more coaches don't teach players to not put there head down if its that easy.

Alternatively it may be the sheernumbers we have flooding in the box when we attack which makes it so easy to create those chances for him by luck.

Give your head a wobble - seriously, you don't like the lad, you never did but criticising him effectively for our form which is what your essentially doing is lunacy

isn't the entire point of a good crosser of a ball to put it into a certain area or to pick a man out when open, both of which Bolasie does regularly

No it isn't. He could play the ball between the last defender and the goalkeeper with perfect weight, but if our players are still on the halfway line it's a bad cross - because he's not picked up his head and looked for a target. If nobody is there it's a hit and hope, if he looks up and weigh's up the situation it's a good cross.

Belting it into an area isn't a skill, it's luck. Just like if I closed my eyes and volleyed it into the top bin, it's not a great goal, it's luck. It's not all his fault, the great Plymouth Argyle, Bristol City and Crystal Palace have coached that into him, whereas Deulofeu had to do with the lowly La Masia.

So.....

Coutinho looks like his ankle has bent half off and is out for 6 weeks....

Bolasie falls over and his season is over......

not cursed us honest!!!

It is the winger's job to put crosses into the area - good ones.

It is the forward's and midfielder's and opposite winger's job to get into the area and score a goal from that cross. Football is very simple.

Del doesn't put the ball into the box enough considering the quality he has in his locker.

Regardless of pedigree.

Off the top of you head, Toff?

Thats where you and me differ mate, a good cross is one thats intended for a target. Not lumped and hope somebody does something with it.

My word, these "four assists" are being done to death.

o_O

Four "assists" in God knows his many minutes, does not make up for the fact he was anonymous the rest of the time.
