Yannick Bolasie

Why do you keep banging this drum - no one else but Bolasie has played in anything like the same role, so you can't compare them.

We only know one thing - we've been dire all season with Bolasie as the primary outball. That's what we know; we don't know whether a system change with Deulofeu or Mirallas would have been better because we've had to shoehorn the record signing into the side regardless of form and whether the system with him in at all works.

In an ideal world, he'd have been deservedly dropped for the United game along with Jagielka and Barkley and we wouldn't be having this conversation. But Koeman, for whatever reason, has felt compelled to persist with proven failure. At least now his hand is forced to try something else, and looking at how we've began this season, that really isn't a bad thing.

When Bolasie comes back, expectation will be less and perhaps he'll slot in as the squad player he should be, rather than the main guy he clearly isn't.
This is the thing, it would of been a big call for RK to make, but one a lot of supporters would have agreed with. Just because we spent so much money on him, doesn't make him a great or even good footballer.

which is not what you alleged he said in your previous post

Yes, yes it is. He advised everyone to clap along happily regardless of what their brain tells them or they're not Evertonians.

"Well said Tom, support the club and its players whether you like every player or not
If you dont then youre not really a supporter of Everton FC"

Don't need to spin those words, I'll just copy and paste them all day long - they are what they are, and it is in my view a disgusting view to have.

It must have been some 2 games.

Theyve shown no consistency because THEY WERE DROPPED FROM THE TEAM?

How is this lost on some people? Bolasie has more assists this season BECAUSE HE'S ON THE PITCH AND DEULOFEU ISN'T. On form and confident Mirallas and Deulofeu are 2 of our best players.

I'd agree.

Those through balls there from Deulofeu, I just don't see that attempt from Bolasie.

On some of them Bolasie would have tried to take a few players on to get to the byline and whip in a hit and hope.

That is my point - the manager is wrong. They're not infallible. See Martinez for details. And this is a forum for discussing Everton.

Koeman has felt the need to persist with Bolasie. My view is that is the completely wrong approach, and he should have been dropped quite a while back. He's not good enough to be an automatic starter regardless of form, and unlike the situation with Lukaku we have other options on the bench for Bolasie.

Strange logic though, you'd have dropped Bolasie for performing poorly and instead played either Mirallas, deulofeu or lennon - all 3 of whom have played terribly (worse than Bolasie) whenever they have started a game this season - Mirallas - 9 starts 6 sub, deulofeu 4 starts 7 sub, Lennon 4 starts 3 sub.

Bolasie for the record has 13 starts 2 sub.

Glad we dropped Bolasie for the Norwich cup game though personally, was great to see how the team flourished without going route 1 to him wasn't it?

...

Again... You can't compare them because those players haven't played the same role or been the same focus for the side as Bolasie has, who has played almost every minute of every game since he joined. Mirallas, Deulofeu and Lennon have been involved as support players for full backs behind them and tasked as the second striker to get into the box, whilst Bolasie has been the outball who is tasked with getting the ball and running it and creating chances. Comparing them really is a case of apples and oranges.

Without Bolasie, we set up to play differently and then you can compare output - until then, you simply can't.

If you want to compare like for like, compare Deulofeu when he had a run of games last year to Bolasie now - and there's only one winner until he was unceremoniously dropped by the joke that was Martinez.

Yeah, both he and Seamus are able to pull it off, but their skill is limited compared to Yala's. Seamus just can't whip them as well and Del is obsessed with getting to the byline and messes it up too often. Yala's strength is not only in execution but tactical awareness - he knows how to cross deliciously from deep, and WHEN to do so as well!

He does.

Sometimes he gets it wrong.

When he gets it right, they are peaches, and he's set up 2-3 chances in every game he's played.

But okay, he's injured and we move on.

Hopefully Del can re-find the form he had this time last year.

and i have never seen Lukaku finish as consistantly clinically as this lad with first time shots.

Utterly ridiculous to think the chances Bolasie created are 'hit and hope' yeah like the sitter missed by Barkley that where put on a plate by him amongst others, isn't the entire point of a good crosser of a ball to put it into a certain area or to pick a man out when open, both of which Bolasie does regularly

In short youtube is boss when you can do a 3 min compilation but how come Deulofeu hasn't done it since - had enough chances hasn't he?

Am I missing something here? You are talking about the same Bolasie as me right? You know, the guy who just thumps the ball randomly with his head down?

What games are you watching?

Every game this season mate.

There's two games where I recall him not setting up a clear-cut chance - that was against Palace and Chelsea.

So I'll change it - 2-3 chances in pretty much every game he's played?

Anyway, he's injured now. As I said, I hope his replacements step up to the mark and, in an ideal world, improve us.

Rather misleading that title isn't it! Should have said 4 goals and 8 assists. How many assists has Bolaise got already? :coffee:
What do you mean 'already'?

Deulofeu got 4 goals and 8 assists in 33 appearances last season, Bolasie has 1 goal and 4 assists in 15 appearances this season, so he was on course to get 2/3 goals and 8/9 assists in the same amount of games. In other words, contribute no more than Deulofeu did last season. Don't burn yourself on that tea.
