Utterly ridiculous to think the chances Bolasie created are 'hit and hope'

For me, he overdoes the 'put it in a dangerous area'. The amount of times he just hopes for the best and/or absolutely blasts it across goal - rather than pick a man, or if there's no option keep the ball.

Too much head down, run past as many as I can and smash it across goal...

Needs more composure and to improve his final ball - but then, if he had that there would have been other teams in for him when at Palace.

We'll bring in someone like Depay - as we would have done with him missing for a while anyway and Deulofeu/Lennon/Mirallas will be given the opportunity to find some momentum to get going.

Deulofeu and Mirallas have been here over 2 years each and contributed basically zip! Nice sentiment thinking changing the system will make them better, but they have been crap in Roberto's side and crap in this side when given a chance.

Bolaise has contributed more in his first 13 games than these two jesters in the last 2 seasons.

it's all about opinions of course, but Mirallas has turned out to be a massive dud and the other is basically a prancing show pony who has been bombed out wherever he has played apart from Spain U21's.

I hope they make me eat my words of course, but they won't.

I think Deulofeu had a spell last year before christmas that yannick wishes he could have and has never had. I can't agree with that statement.

They all now need to step up and prove they are better than they have been showing though, they have that chance now so let's see what happens. I wish all our wingers were on fire then competition for places would be awesome.

Thats where you and me differ mate, a good cross is one thats intended for a target. Not lumped and hope somebody does something with it.

A good cross IMO can be both.

Sometimes, pick out a spot and hit it. Not many players have the quality do that again and again though.

But most good wingers know when to do both. Bolasie has put some great crosses in on a plate (Barkley vs WBA, Rom vs Sunderlan (x2)) and other times he's just put it into an area where players should be making runs (Rom vs Boro as an example).

Does he do it consistently enough? No, and he's very frustrating.

Does he do it more than any of our other wingers? Yes. Very much so.

Del now has the chance to show he can play right wing in Koeman's side. I hope he grasps it. But I'm not convinced he will.

My point exactly. If his head is up, he doesnt make the cross and we retain possession.

Lumping it into an area is akin to a dog chasing a balloon. This is PREMIER LEAGUE football and I expect more from our players than just hit and hope. Bolasie just isn't good enough for Everton.

My word, these "four assists" are being done to death.

o_O

Four "assists" in God knows his many minutes, does not make up for the fact he was anonymous the rest of the time.

I actually think hes been one of our better players so far, but I do tend to agree with this. When did assists even start getting recorded? Are 4 assists some sort of achievement now? I bet Scott Gemmill topped 4 on the regs.

Those 4 assists stand out a lot more don't you think because Lukaku aside the team has 4 assists besides for them?

Deulofeu 434 minutes - 0 assists
Mirallas 819 minutes - 1 assists
Lennon 336 minutes - 0 assists
Barkley 1163 minutes - 1 assist
Barry 1106 minutes - 0 assists
Gueye 1334 minutes - 2 assists (pen counted)
Cleverley 514 minutes - 0 assists
McCarthy 299 minutes - 0 assists

so our entire selection of midfielders, wingers and players playing off the front man have contributed 4 assists in 6005 minutes between them, Bolasie 4 assists in 1164 minutes

and just from memory can guarantee that Bolasie has created the most clear cut sitters in the team that others have missed, can think of 3-4 straight off the top of my head

Maybe we could pin @Tubey response to this that he's written about 800 times so that somebody doesn't need to keep explaining that this particular stat in no way proves what you may think it does.

The thing is though mate this final ball stuff is IMO a myth used to jump on his back, Barkley has missed two absolute open goals, Lukaku the same, and there just the four most glaring misses that it was easier to score than miss, his teamates do that simpel thing he's sat there on 8 assists whilst still getting huge criticsm from a lot of our lot, yeah he has flaws, but for what he does he does well and part of that is crossing, compare his chances created to any other player in the league from that and it doesn't look to shabby

He has the most assists and has created the most chances.

He has come into a side that finished 11th last season.

He most certainly is.

But okay.

Yes mate because in the game of football, assisting goals as an attacking midfielder/winger doesn't prove anything
Is there any stat that does prove anything then btw?

But we haven't just played through Bolasie, if that's your point?

Yes. He has been our main outlet, but we have used other players. Those other players haven't delivered.

Now they have to.
