Should we be concerned about Newcastle winning the thingy-cup?

I dislike Newcastle intently, the supporters I’ve met are arrogant and delusional.
Radio commentary during the match said there was a ‘special bond’ between Liverpool and Newcastle fans (yes, both are entitled cultists with a justified level of vitriol against them by everyone else)
I have no opinion about being owned by Saudi Arabia mainly because I’ve always been puzzled by the argument about why that’s wrong yet 99% of trade is acceptable. Including arms.
Also we’re now owned by a firm based in Texas. Not sure anything connected with America is a good look this year. Seriously.

But God I was so glad they beat Liverpool.

Ian Rush gave an interview on the radio and said that Liverpool and Newcastle are similar in the fact that all their fans come from their city.

I have a lot of respect for Ian Rush, its sad to see his mind going in this manner.

I'd rather not.

I’m friends with many Newcastle supporters online, Many posting about Palestine and Ukraine, women’s rights, xenophobia etc and not one seems to care about this. They are all parading around in their Saudi sponsored shirts.
I imagine the vast majority of fans would be the same. It’s a sad state of affairs when people are able to ignore human rights abuses just so their football team wins some things.

Not sure I really care about that. I'd rather win a trophy.
I think you are getting my opinions and general opinions confused a bit here (maybe it's how I wrote them...)

I want us to win the league cup, as do all fans, but the clubs are not that bothered about it and its fairly obvious.

The whole Newcastle fanbase has seen them lift a trophy.

A high propartion of ours has seen us win zilch.

It's rather sad.
Yeah it’s this really. Never understood why people were bothered about Champions league…for the fans it always going to be about winning pots, the barcodes will remember yesterday far greater than the season they got to play in the CL. We poor suffering sods, haven’t seen one of those shiny things for 30 years.

No.

Why on earth should we?

They seem fixated on making us a “rival” but most of us couldn’t care less about them.
Most of them couldn't care less about Everton either. But there will be a small number of Evertonians poring through Barcode social media looking for any reference to Everton from any account and then magnifying and redefining it as all of them being obsessed.

Every club has their supporters who for some reason need to make out that their club is somehow in the minds of everyone else. It's very weird.

For example - the Everton specific forum now has this very specific thread about Newcastle winning a game against the RS. A story that in and of itself has absolutely nothing to do with Everton. I'm not sure, though I could be wrong, that there are many Newcastle forums with a thread dedicated to Everton.

What seems more fixated there?

I’m going on to their forum to set up a false account named ‘Mackem in Peace’ and start a thread ‘Rivalry with the Toffes’ to test your hypothesis. If they respond having a go at me more than a go at us, you will be correct 😄

I agree with this.

We don't have a rivalry with Newcastle when it comes to actual matches other than both fans having a bit of a dislike for one another.

Online it's a completely different story and many Everton fans online delude themselves that it's the Geordies who try and create a rivalry with us. Both are as bad as eachother and are constantly arguing about who is the bigger club.

The Premier League approved it.

So for me, they'll always be the root of the problem.

Only because they would have fiddled it to make it look like there was no Saudi involvement.

Even so, the premier league should not have approved it, you’re right, but there’s nothing to be celebrated here.

Chelsea, city and now Newcastle. That’s the real death of the game.
