6 + 2 Point Deductions

Can 777 whatever people might think about them be able to help us this time as the takeover gets closer and also no set time for the case atm. Also the whole sueing culture from teams needs to stop the league must put a rule in to stop this is becoming a joke
They will do something about that imo as the Man City/Chelsea thing could result in numerous clubs trying to sue each other at the same time and the league would just collapse (not that that is a bad thing)

I was going to play a bit of devils advocate and say 'if we knew we were £20m close to any overspend, could we have not of sold one of our assets at the time to stay in line with PSR.
I then look at our squad for that season

We sold Richarlison, Dom's injury record would not of raised the funds, player X we couldn't sell, Gordon hadent created the hype at the time to warrant the fee we eventually got for him, Godfreys form had dropped off a cliff.
I look at that squad and Pickford is our only saleable asset (his performances the last 2 seasons kept us up) & Iwobi (i still don't know how we got £22m for him)
The rest of the players were all ageing or contracts running down so no one would touch them!.

The Premier Leagues argument against could easily be, we should of sold Pickford

Best not tell the Tory party that because they were still accepting Russian money after that invasion. Saudi are at war in Yemen and a member of their Royal family was involved in dismembering a journalist.

And the Tories haven't exactly come out smelling of roses, have they? Yes, the Saudis aren't a great regime either, but I'm not sure they're quite the same threat to world peace that Putin is, so the prospect of sanctions are probably far less for the foreseeable.

Yes, one thing at a time and all that, but I'd say that the issue extends beyond the current punishment, in that the true legacy could last much longer. Especially if clubs can bring actions against us and/or if the club exceeds PSR again next year due to high interest payments on existing loans and the cost of completion of stadium.
I'd place that in the 'PL using its client journalists to tell Everton to STFU about complaining' category.

We've paid the price. How would it look if they continually came after Everton when other clubs have gone over FFP in the past (Leicester) and got away with it, Man City avoid their day in court for years to come, and clubs like Man Utd are allowed to run up debts over a billion pounds if the PL came after Everton in successive years? It'd be a disaster PR exercise for them.

So that, I would say, is remote.

I don't really like seeing people try and say we shouldn't have been punished at all.
I agree, it was our fans who over the past 3/4 years who have highlighted the poor running of the club & negligence of the owner & board of directors (which got scoffed at by a lot of the mainstream football media) 'they are doing a great job' 'Moshiri has put a lot of money in' 'Bill has done everything he can' etc etc.

With the team looking stronger this season and even with the 10 points deduction confident to stay up, id happily take a reduced points deduction (5 or 6 maybe) over a transfer ban! Especially if that sets a president for other clubs to receive sporting sanctions for future flouting of laws & rules (not just Profit & sustainability). This would need to include internal owner sponsorship (Man City, Newcastle etc etc us included with USM), poaching & tapping up of players, and offshore payments to agents & intermediatory's)

When did we officially receive the Moise Kean money? Just thinking about this then, if he hadn’t been sent on a stupid two year loan and it was just a one year loan with an obligation to buy, would we have received that money in 2021/22 and therefore been under the threshold?
We got more money in the long run though but yes, we'd have been under the threshold in 2021-22.

We got £7m in 2021, £7m in 2022 and the rest - around £20m - this reporting year (i.e. July 1, 2023)

Yeah we have to remember this would have had to have been before the end of June.

We could have sold another player - but it would have had to have been Gordon - and that would have had to happen before the end of June, 2022.

How absolutely lovely would it be for us to end the weekend outside of the bottom three and not enter it again for the rest of the season?

At this stage I'll happily take 17th of course, and if we cannot comfortably get that with this squad then there's been a huge failure from the manager and players.

Luton, Sheffield United and Burnley. Three absolutely atrocious sides going off the first third of the season.

Speak for yourself there chieftain !

No sanctions on USM / the Siggurdsson fiasco being accounted for = no break of the rules.

We've paid our dues in the transfer market making profits on Richarlison, Gordon, Digne, Gana etc. yet have still been done up like kippers.
Koff you bell. Your constant pathetic excuses to defend our horrendous owner and board are getting tiresome

Mate we are going around in circles. We shouldnt be having to appeal a 10 point deduction. As we didnt warrant a 10 point deduction.
FFP charges last year
PSG, inter milan. Juventus, besiktas. marseille, Roma, monaco, AC Milan.
Total number of points deduction for all of the above clubs who breached FFP.....zero. zilch nothing.

PL under scrutiny from Gov....
Everton. 10 points deducted.

Really disapointed you came on here yest claiming stop playing the victims. No victim playing going on. We've been shafted because they think doing Everton will have no comebacks.

None of them teams are in the Premier League though. We can't use that as a defence.

What punishment should we have got?

The numbers are the numbers.

Having said that, if the club broke the threshold again in 2023, you'd have to start to question their ability to function as human beings on a day-to-day basis. Forget accounting, just the ability to walk, speak, use opposable thumbs.
