6 + 2 Point Deductions

Apologies you are right it was 4 and yes 23 players played for you in that season

Kevin Ratcliffe. 42 appearances
Gary Stevens 25 appearances
Kevin Richardson 1 appearance
&
Ian Marshall 2 apperances

The other 19 had been transferred in

Heath & Adam’s Stoke
Harper & Sheedy Liverpool
Aspinall & Langley Wigan
T Steven Burnley, Power City
Watson Norwich,Southall Bury
Sharp Dumbarton,Wilkinson Grimsby
Reid Bolton,Snodin Leeds
Mountfield Tranmere, Pointon Scunthorpe,
Minns Rotherham, van DeHawe Birmingham
Clarke Wolves,

Some really decent players there a lot of them to be fair were made so by Kendall
Really interesting list there, brings back memories.

Clubs have always built squads through transfers though, very rarely has a team been genuinely home-grown (the class of 92 the notable exception to prove the rule).

The key evolution for me though is looking at the clubs bought from, the majority are in leagues below the old Div 1 and the players are scouted and given opportunity in a higher league. Now it is incredibly rare for a top 6, or even any PL club, to buy first teamers from lower down the English pyramid. The 6 pick off the cream of the other 14, and PSR encourages and enables this (Everton HAD to sell Richarlison to Tottenham, Wolves HAD to sell Nunes to City, Soton had a spell selling anyone half decent to RS).

The default now is not to move up the leagues as a player, it is to move up the leagues within a league in the PL, ensuring the maintenance of the status quo - I think this is really unhealthy and leads to vested interests being the dominant force in a member-controlled league.

Didn't West Ham illegally field Tevez and Mascherano and just about stayed up? Two players at the time probably worth £50ish million in today's money?

Yet we go over by £20m and get docked 10 points.
Yeah but as ornstein stated we cant look at the past, in one of the most amazingly stupid statements on any form of regulation process you will ever hear. Goblins like ornstein think if they talk without an accent they are the smart journos.

TBH, I was looking at from the other bottom 6 or so clubs around us point of view.
Reinstating some or all of our points could (may be will) spanner a club or two. They will cry foul … and so it goes on

It’s a complete and utter shambles
Yeah, completely agree, it totally undermines the sporting integrity of the league to have uncertainty hanging around, especially for the other clubs. It's why points deductions should be (and prior to this have been) an absolute last resort. Everyone needs to know where they stand.

At the same time, selfishly I think Feb would be the best time for an appeal verdict to come.
