So what you're saying is don't pass it for the sake of it, just mindlessly hoof it and hope for the best even if 9/10 the ball will be given away?

Good one, m8

No. You see we rarely hoof the ball from the back today. Maybe our manager wants the defenders to build up our play at the back but you see, players like Jags and Hibbo can't pass and hoofing is a safe bet for them sometimes.

Hoofing it you lose possession. Playing a sh1te short pass at the back is more dangerous, for me anyway. I am not saying we shall not pass from the back but not all our players have the ability to do that consistantly.

We dont know that because we never consistently tried it under Moyes.

I'd say it sorts of defeats the purpose of bringing in a new manager if all people want is the old managers tactic of playing the ball long when a defender came in for a bit of pressure. I think we should EXPECT any player of this football club to play their way out of that situation and only get rid up field when the odds are overwhelming against it.

Cant find the Gibson thread so I'll ask in here. Did Gibson have that operation after last season? He was playing through the pain barrier tail end of the season and was supposedly going under the knife as soon as the season ended but I never heard anything else about it.

Anyone know if he did have the op? Or maybe a case of just resting?

There a time when you can hoof and also pass but under Moyes Jags would hoof even when he could have easily passed the ball, Learning this will turn him into a complete defender.

Jagielka has no problems at all playing it along the floor when he's playing for England consistently.

It was a mistake he made today, nothing else. I've seen many top defenders make the same mistake in big games before.

Correct mate.

England do hoof quite a bit tbf, but I'm sure jags is good enough to play along the floor. The whole point in friendly's is to iron out mistakes like that though and im sure we wont be seeing errors like that in the league

I don't know what's worse, people assuming the result of a friendly to be significant or people who keep incessantly telling us it isn't. I think most Evertonians are aware of the big transition of styles, the fact it's a pre-season friendly and the fact it is the very first game. Winding me up.

Or the fact that people keep getting annoyed by what others are saying.
