Wait, he lost his foot?
Didn't see the second half and based on the rest of the thread, I'm glad.
I hope the defenders get used to passing it out from the back. I think it's best if we just get Gibson to drop back there like he was doing under Moyes, to pick the ball up and start attacks so we don't have to hoof it much or try risky passes. Not sure about Jags or Distin playing that way though. They've both had their calamities in the past as well as today.
The only thing I didn't really like about tika taka is that you have to have class players for it to be really effective, imo (if that's what we're going to do). You knew the sh*te weren't going anywhere trying it last season as they only had the likes of Joe Allen in midfield and didn't have the quality to be really successful with it. In recent years I've thought the same about Arsenal. In a physical league like the EPL, I hope we have the players with the technical ability to make it work, otherwise it could be frustrating.
At least we've finally lost the utterly ignorant tag of being a "hoofball" team now Martinez is here. Let's hope it brings results.
Made every clearance with his right then towards the end forced to use his left and looked similar to you trying to board a small boat.

Has the manager commented anywhere yet? I'd like to hear what his thoughts are.
I'll have go.
'Well it was a phenomenal effort from the players is the circumstances.
Vienna are just about to start their season so are way ahead of us in terms of match readiness. I thought it was a phenomenal effort.
Every player had a good game. They were phenomenal'
I imagine something like that.
