Not sure how anyone can complain about the first friendly of the martinez reign...its all about fitness and trying people in different positions...

Martinez will have learnt one or two things about the players attitudes and current fitness and also where and if they slot in.

A couple more games like this and he can have an idea who he thinks will fit into his system or if he will adapt the strategy to fit the current players.

Its good that he played a lot of young and fringe players to take a look at them as well.

Hope the lads enjoyed themselves...

Nice to see you looking at the positives, Zatara.

Hopefully we'll see plenty of Everton goals in the Stanley and Blackburn games.

Honestly not bothered by the results so much (although good for team spirit). I think its more about attitudes and showing one or two things martinez can use.

Alot of these players are playing for their futures at the club and im sure martinez will give them 2/3 games at least to show their worth.

Playing duffy with both jags and distin says to me that he's taking a serious look at him + gueye and browing as well.

If he doesnt rate them in a couple of weeks then adios but i hope that all the players are given a chance.

We do need another cenrral midfielder though....

We tried to play quick one touch stuff for about 10 minutes, then Jags scored an own goal and everyone got a bit nervy.

Have to say I was a little bit disappointed with how we were trying to play through midfield, the extra man just wasn't there a lot of the time, only Gibson seemed to understand what he was supposed to be doing. Something to work on I suppose.

Conor Grant was pick of the young lads for me, had a nice little 20 mins after half time. Looked comfortable in the game and used the ball well.

Joel was confident generally and aggressive in the couple of one on ones, didn't have much to do elsewhere, although there is a possibility he doesn't have a left foot, we'll have to see.

Gibson would have played this way for years at UTD.

Indeed, I just hope we score more for my entertainment tbh. Results of course are not overly important.

I think he was giving Browning game time for the hell of it though, he's still got Coleman and Stones ahead of him.

And yes, a new CM is a priority, along with a winger who can push for the starting 11 imo.

I've honestly never seen Vellios put a foot wrong. Baffled me the way he was treated, but in fairness we don't know what happened behind the scenes. He might have shagged Moyes' mar.

happens all over the world, he simply had more important players that cost more infront of him in the pecking order. He was dropped when he was your top scorer in the prem and never seen again.

Wait, he lost his foot?

Perhaps Duffy would benefit from a loan out to a championship side? Regular football could help, especially as we have seem to have reasonable cover at centre back.
