"...and oh my, Harry Kane has been carded coming onto the field for the anthem, the, the referee has pointed to the 'one' armband and then his yellow card and told him to take it off. Kane is, he's taking the arm band off, hes passed it to Pickford who's put it on instantly, the referee's booked him, we've not even got the anthems underway yet, this is extraordinary, Pickford to Maguire, booking, Maguire to Sterling, booking, Sterling to Saka, booking, how can this be happening viewers, Saka to Trippier, booked, Trippier to Stones, booked, they're going through the line up, Stones to Shaw, booked, Shaw to Rice, booked, I hope his pen's a new one, Rice to Bellingham, booked, Bellingham to Mount, booked, thats eleven bookings viewers, now what? Oh my, the arm band is back with Kane, the referee doesn't seem to know what to do, second booking its a red, it's bedlam pitch side, he's passed the armband back to Pickford they're all going here..."

How interesting it would be if king charlie had his plazzy bags full of cash on with the bookies on the tie being forfeit, especially in light of where he received them.....

As much as said poster, and the point, is a [Poor language removed], I do understand where the Qatari's are coming from with his response.
See I disagree. Fair enough to have their views on gay rights, much as I find them abhorrent. However when they went out of their way to get the rights to host the world’s largest sporting tournament, they have to accept that they are inviting people of all cultures around the world to their country. That does include gay people, and it isn’t acceptable for them to be turning round and saying “No, we won’t allow anything even remotely pro gay to be displayed here”.

Also the west has a hell of a lot of work to do on LGBT rights, and is nowhere near out of the firing line of criticism in that regard either

Gay and people from the LGBTQ community have been able to attend this world cup without any issues, given that they don't "publicly" display their homosexuality (could be displaying pride flags).

The very presentation of pride flags is seen as a blasphemous act by the Qataris and it goes against their faith, you don't believe that's somewhat disrespectful for fans to starting waving a pride flag, which is seen as blasphemous, around the stadiums in Qatar when there are most likely children and devout figures watching the game? If people feel like LGBTQ rights in Qatar need to be protested, it can be done in much more diplomatic channels without being outright disrespectful.

How would the UK like it if they hosted the world cup but at the same time, the Arab nations protested the drinking culture in the UK because it goes against their values?

Another thing is worth noting is that whilst many on here may believe that "pride" flags are about standing up for the LGBTQ community but to most Qataris, that screams the promotion of "homosexuality" which is blasphemous for their faith. People have to be considerate about these things especially when there are children in Qatar.

Why am I not surprised that it’s you of all people who doesn’t feel gay people deserve rights?

Why don’t you just have the guts to come out and say that instead of blatantly arguing in bad faith? You can pretend you give a damn about Qatari culture if you want, but everyone’s seen the threads and comments you’ve made revering public figures who are actively transphobic, homophobic, or dangerously misogynistic.

How do you promote homosexuality? People aren't going to see a rainbow flag and then just choose to be gay. Its not a choice.
