Boxing

Was surprised at his unwillingness to let the punches go and how he made no effort at all to impose himself on usyk as the naturally bigger man. I think, if he takes the rematch, he needs to come in heavier, make it a really horrible physical battle for usyk and be prepared to take some shots to land his own. Pretty much the polar opposite of what tonight was. Oh, and bin off his trainer, freshen himself up.
He was a man afraid. Looked a boy vs man in the ring tonight.

When Joshua gets hit hard he looks like a little boy, it's disconcerting to see how quickly you see the window to his soul appear. I want to throw the towel in on his behalf! He's a monster to you or I, but there are some really hard men there that I don't think he matches up to.

I also don't like to see a boxer drop his hands at the end like he did, you can dip and duck but clearly he was going and he was one good connection from being really hurt given how he was wincing afterwards anyhow.

Dig up Manny Steward!
I really think Joshua needs to look at a change of trainer. The spark has gone from his displays since the Ruiz defeat, maybe a change of trainer could spark him back into the AJ we know. You only have to look at the performances of Fury since he changed trainers. He’s got from an extremely good heavyweight, to the next level and comfortably the best boxer in the division.

Just simply a masterclass of the art of boxing from the lighter and smaller cruiser weight. If it ever came down to boxing skill there was always no contest, Aleksandr Usyk is a much more natural and gifted fighter than Joshua, Pound for pound there's no better fighter and he's much more than just a level or so sbove, they're not even comparable.

For me there has always been questions about the mega hype around Joshua ever since he lost to the smaller in stature, and clearly heavily overweight, Anthony 'Doughnut boy' Ruiz aka Fatty to his mates. Joshua may have blamed complacency and poor preparation but that was meant to be a hand picked formality, one he should have won half asleep.

I don't see any way Joshua can ever win against the far superior boxer especially if Usyk gets his wish and it's in the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine.

The bigger question is whether the cruiser weight can be equally effective against a real heavy weight who is a far better boxer than Joshua. Usyk would still have the beating of Fury in boxing ability but the chasm wouldn't be as wide as Fury is far better than Joshua for boxing ability. Fury couldn't be so passive as Joshua and would have to make his greater weight and power tell early on. Fury v Wilder Iii could make it all academic although Fury must be favourite do him again.

BBC calling it bang on…

Joshua had no answer to Usyk and while his opponent glided across the ring, the champion appeared to be dragging his feet through mud. There was no attempt to bully Usyk, wear him down or go to the body.

It was a strange, almost hapless display from Joshua which leaves his legacy as one of the heavyweight greats in ruins.
One of the greatest heavyweight hypes more like.

Joshua is not the natural fighter or boxer, fit he is probably the fittest. Its not enough.

He looks the fittest but that’s purely from an aesthetic perspective. He gasses out when an opponent pressures him and the fight goes far. This was at a much lighter fighting weight as well. If he can’t bully an opponent then his odds of winning are slashed because he’s not out-boxing most other fighters at that level.

He has been kept away from Fury for good reason. It would be very dangerous for Joshua and boxing in general.

He will never win back those world titles. It's over now.

Fury v Usyk will be a great fight.
Do you think ? If fury is mentally right I think he just fights like klitschko , works behind the jab leans his weight on him tires him and bores his way here . I don’t mean that negativity I mean it’s obviously what you do, Joshua was extremely poor and was schooled by an opponent who was so much more adapt and hungry for it . A superb performance by the new champ
