Boxing

This “career long” contract AJ and Matchroom signed looks like it’s going to be much shorter than they’d both expected. You could practically see Hearn’s bum hole fall out as the scorecards were being announced.

Fury must be absolutely gutted too, in his own mind he would have been certain he would beat AJ for the Undisputed, and he’s just seen that opportunity and world record payday go up in smoke.

AJ should have been cleverer and boxed more like Fury did against Cunningham. Impose himself, bully the smaller man, get him on the ropes, lean on him, wear him down, exhaust him. Problem is, AJ isn’t as confident of his own inside game like Fury is.
he won't worry about that, he will still sell out stadiums. He still has the Whyte rematch and Chisora to fight yet.

No chance we will get the Fury or Wilder fight now though. I actually think Wilder will spark Fury in the rematch

Joshua is one of the only guys who takes on all the big fights. He could have easily just passed up the belt to avoid fighting Usyk, but he didn’t.

I don’t understand why people are so eager to tear strips of a guy who constantly takes the risks in an effort to be the best.

This “career is over” stuff is nonsense. If fighters can’t lose without being told their career is over it’s no wonder the risky fights don’t get made.

Frazier lost 4, Foreman lost 5 and Tyson lost 6.

Well i see a guy who is manufactured and has come along at the right time in HW eras, literally nobody of any quality is about. He pissed me off no end when he started to have a go at Lennox Lewis (arguably the best HW of all time) who would absolutely destroy AJ.

He doesn't take on all the big fights, thats just not true. He hasn't fought Fury or Wilder

He literally signed a contract to fight Fury. It is a well known fact that Wilder dodged the fight with Joshua.

its not a well known fact at all. Nobody knows. Wilder claims otherwise, in fact he claims he agreed to fight AJ only for Hearn to demand he fought Whyte first.

He also signed to fight Fury knowing it wouldn't happen as Fury would have to fight Wilder agaion.

Joshua turned down 50 mil to face Wilder, you say he takes all the risks, which ones are these exactly?

Klitchko who had just been beat by Fury?

Povetkin who just been nearly sparked by Price?

Charles Martin the biggest Joke of a world champion going?

Andy Ruiz on late notice who just been done by Parker?

He HAD to fight Usyk, he was his mandatory, as was Pulev.

If you want to believe the story of a guy who claimed he lost a fight because of his ring walk outfit that’s your prerogative, I’m not that daft.

As for the second part, you seriously think Hearn would have penned a deal with the Saudis to stage the fight if they knew it wasn’t happening ? Nobody knew the rematch was going to be ordered, the Fury camp actively told people it wasn’t an issue.

Both Fury and AJ had mandatory fights lined up when they agreed their collision, if they were that keen to fight each other they could have gave up the belts to do it, Fury chose not to and took up the Wilder fight instead, leaving AJ with last night’s disaster

I'm not going to pretend be as knowledgeable about boxing as others may be, but from what I saw last night AJ looked somewhat complacent before hand.

Usyk boxed very, very well, however once he put AJ under any form of pressure then it looked as if our man was never going to get back into it.

He looked a limited fighter.

He didn’t have to fight Usyk, he could have dropped the belt which fighters have done many times.

Not sure who else you expect him to fight ? He’s taken on everybody in the division, the two exceptions being Wilder and Fury.

Amazes me that people still think Joshua avoided Wilder and not the other way around. Here in the clown’s own words:

If he did drop the belt he would be a laughing stock, same way Riddick Bowe was with Lewis.

So yes he did have to fight Usyk to keep the dream of the Undisputed clash going.

I don't believe any of them. They are boxers. They talk tripe to sell fights.

But I don't believe wilder has ducked Joshua. He fought fury and could have retired or took cash to not fight him again. He hasn't.

Fairly sure it was down to the purse (was close to a 60-40 split which is daft for Wilder to want to take, especially being the biggest purse he'd ever take) and the idea Wilder wouldn't want to come to the UK to fight. So he wanted it on his terms rather than Joshua's who had all the belts.

Fury took less money in the first Wilder fight and agreed to fight in the US, so that's how that happened. The rematch they both got equal purse and 50-50ppv split.

Nothing to do with ducking and everything to do with business.

Wilder admitted he turned down the fight in his words, for more money so he could fight Fury. Worst career decision Wilder made. Fury looked terrible in his two comeback fights, Wilder thought it would be an easy nights work against Fury.

Also, everyone from Top Rank to fury himself believed the fight with Joshua was a done deal.

Gotta give credit to Wilder and Fury cos they certainly played the Joshua team and got into his head. Played him like a fiddle. Both knew Joshua was the cash cow. Fury and Wilder couldn’t sell out 20k arenas never mind stadiums til Joshua came a long. Without Joshua in that division, they’d both be making a million or less per fight.

Again some people are been exposed for Casuals because Parker certainly didn’t do Ruiz at all. Many believed Ruiz won. Parker got a home decision. One of the reasons Ruiz didn’t want the rematch in the UK cos of the bad judging he got in New Zealand.

Joshua is very manufactured and been rushed due to his commercial appeal. It was Lewis who started bad mouthing Joshua. Joshua just responded about him as a person, not a fighter.

Also he’s fought better opposition than Wilder and Fury put together. If it wasn’t for Joshuas commercial appeal, them two would be fighting each other for next to no money.

Fury’s win against Klitschko was one of the best wins by a British fighter. Yet in the rematch, couldn’t even sell out the MEN arena.

Agreed, this era is slightly better than the Klitschko era but these heavyweights ain’t all that.
