Why this lad was loaned out leaving us with only Oviedo to back up a now sadly injury prone Baines is beyond me. Nearly as bad as the decision to give Gibson a new contract.

...I said exactly this at the time, the only conclusion I could come to was RK doesn't rate him. I know folk on here thought he'd gain valuable experience playing for Baggies but I thought he would get plenty of opportunity here with Baines now injury prone.

I can understand Koeman may not rate Galloway or doesn't think he is ready but he can't surely believe Oviedo is a better back up to Baines. I like Oviedo and he has been unlucky with the horrendous leg break, but he makes Moreno look like Roberto Carlos.

Galloway did very well at full back , but to me he always looked like a centre back filling in. He never looked a natural in that position. We also have Holgate who is already ahead of Galloway, if we need to resort to square pegs in round holes. He may one day partner Holgate in the centre of our defence but he's not a full back.

...I thought Galloway did enough last season to show he was next cab on the rank as far as LB goes. I like Oviedo's character. I like Oviedo's attitude to footy but if I was EFC manager I would have kept Galloway here as back-up. Saying that, RKs opinion matters and I suspect he's not keen on the lad.

To be fair, he's not pulling up trees at WBA so RK might well have it right.

Koeman did say when he loaned him that his long-term future is at Everton, to paraphrase.

“He is a player with a future at Everton but at the moment he is not playing for the first-team. It’s not good for young players to play every week with the Under-23s. We need to give them a platform to to play at the highest level."

He would have got advice from the coaches and those that know the player at the club and I can only imagine only good things would have been said about BG.

Can't see any evidence yet of Koeman practicing what he's preaching in that quote and playing any if our up and coming youngsters
