Martinez dropping him was a joke as he'd done nothing to deserve it, and yet he sticks the hapless and woefully out of form Howard straight back in.

Crap selection policy at times has Mr Brown Shoes

It's not unrealistic while he's playing fullback.

It's a tactical adjustment he needs to make, it has nothing to do with ability or how he's wired.

Anyone can run down a wing and sling a ball over. I'm not saying he needs to be as good at it as Baines, just give it a crack.

He did it a couple of times Allen, and there were a couple of other occasions he made the run and never received the ball.

I realise you're not having a go at him, but I really can't understand where this comes from about Galloway. He might not be Baines esq with his natural attacking instinct but there's probably no other leftback in the league who is.

He's still very adventurous for a full back especially a young inexperienced one without an obvious winger/link man stationed in front of him.

Slotted in nicely. Solid defensively and was a shame he couldn't quite get that ball McCarthy fired in at him under control in the box, would be boss for him to get a goal.

You're right, I'm being overly-critical. The truth is, on the few occasions he cut back inside and played it backwards it did annoy me. I suppose we're spoiled with our swashbuckling fullbacks. You just get used to that.

Yeah we've been spoilt for a long time having Baines and Coleman I suppose mate.

Oviedo is also a vastly inferior defender and Galloway didn't deserve benching, which was my point
Galloway has played well recently, which I think most fans will agree with, but his noticeable strength is in his defensive capabilities.

Arguably, I even think he is better Baines in that aspect, however he is still developing in terms of his attacking outlet; he's still limited here.

Today, against a fragile Sunderland team, it was a sensible choice to try and bring some width and pace to the squad using Oviedo as an outlet.

It's not a slant on Galloway at all, rather it was just a requirement for the game we attempted to play today. I'm sure he'll be back soon.

I think he's improved immensely in his attacking play since the opening day of the season though.

I see your point and I assumed that was Martinez logic, but I did t agree with it pre- game and I still don't mate

He is a CB playing out of position so of course he hasn't got the attacking threat of Baines/Oviedo, who are more attack minded players and have played in that position for years. Even the top 'footballing' CB's in world football such as Pique, Varane, Kompany etc would not offer that much playing fullback.

The fact that Galloway is getting experience at LB will stand him in excellent stead for the future. If we were not so accustomed to watching one of the best attacking and most creative LB's in world football, we would be more than happy with his occasional back passes or his lack of attacking threat.
