him and stones could both play DM in my opinion, but why not have them as centre backs and be really attacking from the back?

Can definitely imagine he's been looked at in that position. I was having naughty dreams about him and Stones at centre half a few weeks back but not so sure now. Would be a very composed and still solid pair so I think it's more about getting even more out of him than any obvious weakness. There is definitely an instinct there to make things happen which isn't always a bad thing for a centre half but why not use it if we have other options at the back. And if we are going to get back to having two attacking full backs, then he provides both a lot of cover and simple ammunition.
Won't do any harm to have extra heading ability in midfield as well.
What is it with Evertonians obsession with the defensive midfield role?
Now it seems it's Galloway's turn for the much coveted position. What's next Mirallas could do a job? Lukaku has all the skills for it?
I'm a bit of a traditionalist myself and like to see players play in their best and most natural positions, I've always found it helps with team cohesion, which in turn improves both the team and the player and makes us better. Guess it's just me not being part of the FIFA or FM generation..
Iirc Barry started out as the left CB in a back three before moving to the DM role whilst Jags moved from midfield to centre half so not unusual for there to be some debate as to which role talented players are best suited in their early years. What is it with Evertonians obsession with the defensive midfield role?

Supposedly this thought has occurred to the Everton staff. He played there as a youth too. Dier has made that exact shift this season as it goes. Hard to say really, haven't really seen what his distribution is like from the centre of the park which is a huge part of it.
He reminds me of Sakho on the ball at times haha.. Looks uncomfortable and like he doesn't know what to do

He got isolated by the lack of defensive cover from Kone or Barry. It is noticeable that both our holding mid's don't like to get over and help the full back. Galloway was up against payet and moses sometimes, but it was noticeable Barry tracked over more second half.Moses rinsed him yesterday, especially in the first half.
First time he looked like what he is, a young centre half playing out of position.

Yeah i agree. I was by the corner flag too, and he was really struggling in that first half. I don't think it's the first time to be honest. I think he's done a really good job for us but has often looked what he is - a young lad who has been pitched in a bit early and isn't a natural in that position. At times yes he was a bit isolated.
At other times, Moses just rinsed him one on one. It was very apparent to me in the first half as I was sat about 20 rows back in line with that corner flag.
