Champions League revamp

It's all about the money .. end of!

Their financial modelers will have calculated that this is the best way to increase their revenue/profits and to hell with everything or anyone else.

I can even just about stand this and will wave them a cheerful F8ck off but don't you dare try to PR and corporate spin this making out you are doing us all a favour etc.

The PL need to react now, because the longer it goes on they look weak.
All six evicted, immediately.
It's nearly 9am there had better be an announcement soon about this. Cannot let these 6 teams get away with this for the integrity of the sport. Never ever thought I would se the day, then the Americans entered the building, tossers.

Everyone on here is pretty robust in their condemnation of this idea, myself included. Just a thought though . . 12 Clubs have signed up but there is said to be a further three yet to do so. What if Everton were to announce that they are one of the three, be honest, what would your reaction be then?

I thought they would be Bayern Munich, Dortmund and PSG. But people are saying the German teams are owned 51% by the fans so it would require a fan vote, which they may not get. But if they get those teams it obviously gives them a lot of power.

I can't see any world where we would be invited, given our European history. I think the Dutch, Portuguese, and Turkish top teams would be ahead of us.

If this goes ahead our best chance of getting in it will be if the 5 invitational places come from either the Premier league or European champions league, europa league winners

Not to sponsors it wouldn’t. Sponsors (+ the national FA’s) want to see Messi, Ronaldo, De Bruyne, Kane, Salah etc. and a World Cup without them is unthinkable really. Wouldn’t be the spectacle that Qatar wanted. Sponsors may even withdraw. There is anger right now and many threats, but there will be a compromise at some point.
Assuming those players stay where they are.

But, Messi and Ronaldo won't be playing beyond the next world cup, Salah is always fleeting because Egypt aren't a good side.

Would be nice to see a statement form our club at some point. What does it mean for our strategy going forward, stadium etc. Sadly I think that if we’d have been more successful in recent years we’d have probably gone along with it as well, that’s the sad part.
You’re PROBABLY right...

The one thing that gives me a LITTLE bit of hope that we would have done the right thing is how we’re conducting the stadium move.

Would have been the easiest thing in the world for us to sell Goodson and bank some amount towards the new ground, but instead we’re investing more money to build something valuable to the community... doing things the right way.

Like I say, you’re probably right, but I hold out a small hope.

Not sure how this will work in practice - if domestic leagues come down hard; there superleague assumption that the likes of ourselves, Seville, Dortmund will jump to the tune is a big one, especially of there are consequenses for the next few years of European football, which in theory will be easier to qualify for

I'd be done with Everton, because how much money do you actually need?

Everton were founded by working class people, for working class people. Liverpool isn't a City with ties to overwhelming wealth, as a City we've been hand in hand with our clubs during the darkest times, and shared memories for nearly 150 years.

To throw everything away to be in a fat cats club? No thanks, local teams who would love my support, would be where I go.

The only real threat of this not happening is from the domestic leagues. If the Premier league say these clubs can't stay in the league it makes the whole thing a non starter.
But I think the Premier league will get a pay off from this super league and then they will stand down. The alternative is that this super league will offer 1 place to the Premier league in this new competition that can be won by one of the remaining 14 teams. But to me that would be far too many Premier league teams. For me Arsenal and Tottenham should not be involved in this competition, they don't really fit with the others
Tottenham is the biggest piss take of them all. They got in because they had some NFL games at their stadium. I hope these American owners/business links get kicked to touch asap. They are trying to americanise our game, making it anti competitive.

Let's see how uefa, FIFA and the premiere league respond. They have hardly been a shining light for integrity and caring about fans. This is their last chance.

I already posted this last night...

I would stop supporting the club and prefer to see a new 'FC United of Manchester' setup as the new Everton...

Starting at the bottom of the football pyramid would be preferable than joining this.

Exactly.
The only surprise is that we are surprised.
As a City fan I can honestly say that if (and I think its a very big if) this goes ahead I will never, ever
step foot inside a football stadium to watch them ever again. Not as though they will even give a toss
of course. Like a lot of fans I was already disillusioned but this just kills it. Even if it doesn't go ahead
it kills it. If it's not this it will be something similar. They are hell bent on a European league so they
can extract as much money as possible out of the game and the fans. Not for me.

City are the club im most surprised about.

PSG took the moral high ground and to see City do this is the PR disaster i think which washes away all the things they seem to have wanted to gain from buying City in the first place.

Oh fully agreed. Ultimately, whether they bring in a greater audience, they haven't made the Premier League the profit making machine which it is today, on their own (Despite what they think).

Honestly, it's enough for so many people to disconnect, because have football clubs ever been farther from being in touch with their fanbases? Is this what fans really want? No it's a greedy grab to profiteer.

To win the CL is worth £150m, to participate in the ESL is worth €400m just to play in the league, and only a further €30m to win it, there's no incentive to be successful, just greedy.

Huge money for exhibition matches.

Thats all it is.

Why would sponsors want to be associated with the hatred of millions and millions of fans ?

I would be embarrassed and ashamed, and likely done with football.
