Champions League revamp

It opens a massive can of worms if no action is taken. What’s then to stop other clubs (if they wanted) to form their own spin off competitions? Leading to the ultimate death of UEFA.
Aye, a situation similar to boxing with the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, etc. Some owners would definitely love this type of scenario if it meant that they had all of the power.

Those 6000 Liverpool fans et al, will find that the tourist nature of their club increase and that a disproportionate amount of their games would be played internationally. The Yanks will probably have an eye on bringing a US team and possibly Chinese or at least for some of the games being played in markets with large potential custom bases. This would be the true end of these clubs being a 'working mens' pastime as they will finally become 100% corporate in their actions akin to Disney. The fact that Liverpool has been fundamental to creating this is absolutely no surprise.

Clubs won't get kicked out, these huge clubs wouldn't join without looking into it legally

Its Man City being banned from the CL all over again
The difference is they are in breach of rules laid out by the governing bodies. It is a black and white issue. This now comes down to whether FIFA, uefa and the premiere league have the balls to act and if they are genuinely not involved at some level in the formation of this super League (remember the little gobshite Rick parry being secretly involved in the last discussions).

This is correct unfortunately.

Similar to project restart, there will be a need for "the show must go on" there is no chance the PL (or the other 14 clubs) walk away from the six. Ultimately cash will be king and between the loss of revenue for the PL if they go; the token "solidarity payments" etc etc. The 6 will remain in the league

If this happens, it will be UEFA who are the biggest losers.

Laughing at Sky here.

They basically paid the top teams to leave the Football league and create the Premiership and have pouring money into it ever since.
The Clubs wouldn't be doing it if there TV money wasn't already there, for them to risk going public like this. Sky are just moving in on UEFA's cut of the money by cutting them out all together, they will just deal with the clubs directly in future.

UEFA were extracting the urine, they want to expand the "Champions League" even further because it is their big Cash Cow. The big clubs are fed up with having to fly to the middle of nowhere midweek every few weeks when they are now playing 2-3 days before and after it domestically. The New Euro League would allow clubs and the fans to plan better. No more draws for a fortnight's time where suddenly the team and the supporters have to work out how the hell they are going to get to Azerbaijan and back.
Not really that was all about branding and didn't change the core rules and create a closed shop, it's worlds apart

I actually think they should be given the chance to withdraw.

Withdraw now: points deduction and 1 or 2 season European ban

Don’t withdraw: removal from the football pyramid, ban from all other domestic and European competitions, players no longer able to represent their nations.
I agree with the last line but this is too far gone to let them withdraw, this isn't a floated idea, they have carried it out and signed, it has to be a full get out now situation for me.

The arrogance as well, we'll make our own european league but we'll continue playing in your league....
That's like saying to your missus don't worry love, I'm gonna go out and smash a few other birds every weekend but I'll still come home to you.....
I don't think the league has the bottle but I'd honestly ban them from every domestic competition whilst they choose to be involved with this so called super league...
If uefa and fifa tag along they wouldn't last a season....
Also....don't officials, refs etc require uefa qualifications to officiate in europe? Where are they going to get them now?

Removing them from the league is bad for everyone (though keeping them in while letting them form this ESL is even worse).

Expulsion needs to be on the table, but its biggest positive is as leverage to stop this thing in its tracks.

I neglected to add the boxing analogy would be the end of the FA, UEFA, and possibly FIFA as the power brokers but it wouldn't be a surprise if either UEFA or FIFA have been a part of the negotiations and are playing the game at this point - most likely FIFA.

One step away from a full-on breakout league this. If the clubs in question decide to push back against their national football leagues & UEFA this could be the very catalyst that causes it.

Greedy, corrupt gits the lot of them. Extremely disappointed that a club in our city continues to entertain this nonsense if I'm being honest.

Say we qualified for this thing and had a stormer and went on and won it but had a proper crap prem season and didn’t finish in a qualifying spot (assuming there’s a qualifying process determined on domestic league standing) Would we not be in it the following season?

qualification is entirely at the whim of the founder clubs, so who knows? I doubt they’ll let teams that could win it get in anyway.
