Champions League revamp

On SSN just now:

'Both Man City & Chelsea were reported to have had reservations about the whole thing, but ultimately decided that they just couldn't risk being left behind..'

This is the world we live in.

Oh widely reported, and not a Chico Azul leak.

I said it from the off, all it was going to take was money hungry owners to get the ball rolling. Liverpool and United want more money from the Premier League, Juventus want more money from Champions League and Real & Barcelona want parity with the Premier League top sides, so once they've got their core teams, then they're set.

Once it had momentum, they could bully their way through, and pressure the teams into their games. I feel for the fans of all of these teams, and Liverpool, Arsenal and United need to be the teams most severely punished.

Don't be surprised to see him pandering to the fans in public though still. Harp on about how it's a fans game and this threatens that concept, yet continue to plough through as Liverpool boss no doubt.

"I need to see more details", "we'll have to see", "I understand fans concerns but we'll have to see what happens", "nothing is set in stone yet" blah blah blah.

His comments will be a bingo card of non-commitment.

Italian media saying Roma one of the three invited

Lets hope they refuse. SL going through a list of 'big names' seeing who they can attract. I think with German teams and PSG turning them down, it will give others a bit more thought.

Would be great to see the 12 hung out to dry. Even if this doesnt come off they should be punished heavily in each league and European competitions

Liverpool fans wondering if Klopp would walk, like he's some sort of virtuous messiah of the masses.

He'll no comment and trundle on, obviously, you deluded bunch of cultist bells. He'll leave Liverpool the moment something better comes about.

Bayern have a spot open...

It's for exactly the same end result - to make the rich richer.
Not much has changed since 1992 - just more Noughts on the end of the bottom line

Does the business you work for not try to make more money each year? There's nothing wrong with that.

You're ignoring the fundamental difference for some reason. The Premier League is not, and has never tried to be a closed shop. The ESL is.

That's technically what should actually happen. It won't, but it should, especially with the six clubs breaking a very clear Premier League founding rule with what they've done.

They should now be automatically ineligible to compete in any current competition.
If the supporters groups of these clubs love the clubs as much as they claim they should be demanding withdrawal and relegation otherwise they will be exposed as plastic fans in the eyes of the public

It's quite simple.

If they are banned from English football for the season 2021-2022, and then applied to re-join for 2022-2023, it has been stated that they would have to enter at the 5th tier, i.e. the National League. They would not jump straight back in to the top flight.

Would their top players want to be playing National League? If they played their U23 side, would they ever get out of there?

But they've just relegated the Premier League to a 2nd tier competition. Top players won't even play in the league (regardless of it's the Premier League or the National League), they'll be rested for Real or Juve midweek. They're literally guaranteed a place regardless of what happens in the English league - that's the crux of this.

They're not.
