Champions League revamp

I'm not sure it is. I don't think too many people are getting up in the middle of the night to watch Norwich play Brighton if i'm honest. Part of the appeal of the PL is that all the other clubs play the big boys and might just turn them over. Take away that possibility and it changes the entire product.

We can build new brands, Wil take 5 years and we get our footie back

What happens if it goes tits up and they backpeddle? Do we just get on with our competitions and pretend like nothing happened? They can hardly be punished if they hadn't physically left yet. It'll be a properly weird situation.
They've signed the intent and left the ECA, there's no going back, this will be seen through one way or another, the football game has changed today. The bosman is no longer footballs biggest change.

I really hope that England takes a hard stand against our 6 clubs and show the way for Spain and Italy to follow suit. Both the FA and Premier League need to show solidarity here and formally advise all clubs that, if they go ahead with their plans to join the ESL, then they will be barred from playing in all domestic competitions, including the Premier League. They should also give a deadline to the clubs to confirm one way or the other. I would also make it a ruling that any players registered with any of the clubs are ineligible to play for England. Hopefully UEFA and FIFA will follow suit.

For obvious reasons UEFA are at war with the ESL, and FIFA has to come out in full support, which will basically mean that the ESL is a breakaway sport. Again, I believe that will suit the owners of the ESL as they will be free to change the rules to suit their own ends. Soccer will be fully Americanised, loads of advertising breaks, high scoring games, shoot outs, time outs.

Im kinda torn over all this. On one hand the snide part of me totally wants them to all be kicked out of premier league but the slightly more rational part of my brain thinks the Premier League and Everton would suffer from it due to huge drop in sponsorship/tv money/audience etc.

No one is going to take champions of England seriously when the 6 supposed biggest clubs in England don't even compete in said tournament

I don’t know how those clubs in the top half on the league would vote, but, surely there will be an incentive for the bottom 3 and those hovering above there to vote against these 6 clubs if it means saving their premier league status?

It would break my heart if Brighton voted against these 6 to preserve our PL status rather than because it's the right thing to do.

Well the overseas market is huge. Say what you like about the people behind this, but one thing they definitely aren't is stupid. They know full well there is a huge market for this proposal, they aren't just doing this on a whim. The price of UK rights has been going down while the price of overseas rights is going up. Those people want to see Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. And obviously UK rights would take a big hit because 6 of the biggest supported clubs in the country would no longer be in the league. Fans of those clubs will be paying DAZN, they won't paying Sky to watch the PL when they aren't in it. It would be like me getting a Sky subscription to watch the Championship.

Who cares, we get our footie back.
