Probably been posted before - but at least we have a friend at the Guardian

It’s really important to keep journalists on board now.

Ultimately, whilst it would never have impacted their careers, it would have seriously challenged what they believe in, and once you take away the utter cretins like Cross, who will service the privates of the glorified six, you should hopefully have a continued pressure to stop them forcing their way.

It is, but the big challange is the majority of the vocal media, particularly Neville, Carragher and SKY etc, are not interesting in pushing on now. They wanted to keep the status quo and thats achieved.

These pr*cks charge £15 quid PPV on top of subscriptions in the middle of a pandemic and then they claim to be the defenders of the working man - not a chance

I'm sick of this lot. They are moaning about a problem that they and they alone are 100% responsible for.

Not exactly.

It's individually rational for each of them to overspend given the environment, yet collectively stupid. They essentially want nice, predictable revenue streams that enable them to budget effectively and not overspend in the pursuit of revenue. This has the nice side effect of locking everyone else out and guaranteeing the predictable revenue streams.

Perez is an utter hypocrite on this since he touched off the whole arms race twenty years ago, but you knew that about him already.

The key question is whether or not the possibility of meteoric rises and titanic falls from grace is a feature or a bug, and under what conditions we want to permit them. Obviously, the position of the guys at the top is "never", since they can only go one direction.

There will be no sanctions or just token sanctions and this issue will rear it's head again in 12 months it's far from over.
The other 14 should start clandestine meetings now so as to be better prepared for the next onslaught. It should be written into the rules now that any club deciding to join another league will automatically be disqualified from the premier league without any option to rejoin.
