2024/25 David Moyes

Yup he knows Pickford from Sunderland also which will help a lot.

Think Moyes will go with Garner in the DM spot actually, way more mobile than Mangala whose like molasses, Garner also way more comfortable in the side areas which means dropping in to cover say for Patterson if he's allowed to bomb forward should come way more naturally. If he dies go for that setup btw I can imagine Lindstrom playing on the right but drifting inside a lot - think of how Moyes set up on the left with Baines and Pienaar. Would shock me to see him giving Tim that spot designed to get into the box late - the Cahill type role, could be Armstrong but doubt Moyes will see him as ready yet - but a few additions needed but the fundamentals are there already in great part
In a way it's a core David Moyes memory for me - having a solid keeper. He's inherited England's #1 here which is probably a massive boost to him.

Armstrong is quite big, I don't know how his heading/positioning is but hopefully he gets a tune out of him in the next few months, looks like there's a raw player in there.

This is exactly it for me. I will get behind him now he's in but it feels like a missed chance to go in a new direction.
Don't think we can gamble now. A bit of stability then we can move in new direction. Just hope he can get a tune out of these lot. Hopefully freshen things up a bit and his football isn't gonna be as bad as dyches. Plus he'll make the players understand what playing for our once great club means. I'm not over the moon but it's a step in the right direction. In my completely worthless opinion

Moyes has to be the correct choice because of the perilous position we are in. We all want to go into a new direction but we need to attempt that once we are safe. We are in a dog fight again and need to ensure safety before we can look forward to hopefully a new direction.

It's honestly *astounding* that a significant number of people (particularly in the media) think we're more likely to go down under Moyes than Dyche, given what's been seen in the last 3 months.

Moyes wasn't my first choice for the job, but let's get it right, on his worst day he's twice the manager/coach that Dyche is.
Yeah, this is it really.

Moyes has saved clubs from the drop before, ourselves included, so that isn't something Dyche has over him. On top of that, Moyes has shown an ability to be able to build teams, progress them and develop the football they play (albeit I'll accept that at heart he is a pragmatist) which is, to be kind, a question mark over Dyche.

There are plenty of valid reasons to be underwhelmed about the appointment, but in no way is it a downgrade from Dyche even just for the situation we find ourselves in.

The hysterical overreactions and agenda driven nonsense from some on here is an embarrassment. Its fine to say you're disappointed with the appointment, I think its fair to say that Moyes wasn't anyone's first choice but come on ffs! Behave. You're lying to yourselves and everyone else if you aren't willing to admit that even on his worst day he's comfortably a better manager Dyche could ever dream of being.

I don’t know how anyone can have watched us this season and think we were mad to get rid of Dyche.

A few Mancs in work were questioning it. “but you drew with city and arsenal”
This doesn’t count for much when you’re getting beat by the Bournemouths and Southamptons without so much as an effort on goal.

I am completely underwhelmed by the appointment and as much as anything because I wanted to be blown away and excited by it , for the pub to be buzzing on Wednesday and then the ground as we start a brand new era and left the mediocrity of the last decades behind .

Instead we got Moyes , Yep I’ll back him and I’ll be delighted if he starts with a couple of wins and powers us up the table . Do I think he’s a better manager than Dyche , certainly I do . Do the stats about the end of his West Ham career and Dyche’s equivalent time last season suggest that , not necessarily. I think we’ve upgraded and I hope it’s by a lot , it needs to be , but the proof of the pudding and all that .

He will be asked about transfers today surely. Not that he will give anything away, but I hope he has let them know that business has to be done and is confident that it will be done.

It would be good to get an indication that we need, and will get, at least a couple in.
