2024/25 David Moyes

I don’t know how anyone can have watched us this season and think we were mad to get rid of Dyche.

A few Mancs in work were questioning it. “but you drew with city and arsenal”
This doesn’t count for much when you’re getting beat by the Bournemouths and Southamptons without so much as an effort on goal.

I guess that is part of the pro-Dyche sentiment - when the media only watch the Sky 6 - they see plucky Dyche teams doing reasonably well in controlling the opposition. What they don't see is the 26 other games that the fans do.

Was trawling through teams of years gone by under Moyes, checked out the side he inherited from Smith...

If anyone thinks the squad we have now is awful/the worst ever, then check out what Moyes initially had to work with at Everton and it'll make your eyes bleed, it was a truly abysmal side.
I Personally think the 2001 squad was stronger, although JP and JB would definitely get into the side, we could argue all day about the others, The main thing is he inherited Campbell, Ferguson and Radzinski then. There were definitely goals in that team, there's a lot less of that here, and that's the biggest issue imo.

We have players who can score, we didn't work on scoring for 2 years and create next to nothing as a result.

Will be difficult for Moyes obviously but it's not like he's got 15 defenders to work with here

I don't except wonders here tbf, been a problem almost every season since Big Sam... Haven't really done the best appointments to fix with Rafael, Frank or Dyche...

But Moyes will 100% get more out them.

If memory serves, Ferguson barely played at that point. Not sure Radz was better that NDiaye although I appreciate we played them in different positions. Campbell was a good pro.

Fair assessment. Doesn’t have to be everyone’s cup of tea, and yes, there may be better out there (who maybe wouldn’t have the minerals to drag us through a relegation battle) but it’s a case of ‘suck it up and get on with it’ as he’s here now and that won’t change, regardless of how dissatisfied people may feel. For all his issues, Moyes is nowhere near as negative as Dyche, and if Moyes can get more out of this current squad, which I feel he will, then we will still be in the Premier league next season. As for longer term, PsR, naming rights, etc will potentially play a major part so just need to be patient and hopefully be able to enjoy our 1st summer in years!
