2024/25 David Moyes

Watching Newcastle Bournemouth…both teams look light years away from mighty Everton…wonder if it would be ever reachable…
Very soon pal. We have half the squad out of contract in the summer. Absolutely none of them have been offered a contract yet 👍

I agree but who plays instead? Squad is so poor. Beto and Lindstrom would have to start and you just know they’d be hauled off themselves after 65 mins. Desperately need new players.

Jep, asap. Beto and Lindström are not the hoped game changer, but would play them over DCL, Harrison and Doucoure, but we won't get around of playing them for a bit atm.

What else to try. Patterson, Garner as a CAM?, Armstrong. Someone from the Youth??? I am out of ideas in this case, 3 at the back might be a solution.

It's what happens when you dont have proper systems in place and you only want to make 'safe' moves. Safe moves never improve you and most of the time send you backwards rather than keep you on an even keel as people suggest.
We’re 20 points behind Bournemouth.
That’s not to take anything away from them but watching them and then us, shows you why we are where we are right now.
There are good value, highly motivated players out there. You just have to go find them.
Continually buying players from relegated clubs contributes to the loser mentality.

It is depressing...not sure where we can get points from our fixtures again. It wasn't that long that both newcaslte and Bournemouth were decent fixtures to pick up points. Now looking at the table, I am not sure where we could get points other than against the 4 teams below us. We are miles off the rest of the league.

For me, (with current players);

3-4-2-1
Branthwaite, Tarkowski, O'Brien
McNeil (LWB), Garner, Mangala/Gana, Patterson (RWB)
Ndiaye and Lindstrom behind the striker
Beto.

When Iroegbunam is fit, could try 4-3-3 with him at the tip of a midfield triangle.

But, yes, we do need players.

Yep. This is the weird thing about Everton. We are absolutely terrified of relegation in a way that the likes of Bournemouth (and others) simply aren’t.

So everything we do is safety first. Allardyce, Moyes, Dyche, Benitez. Safe ‘Prem proven’ signings, whilst other teams build something much bolder.

Tried to imagine Doucoure in their attacking plays…

Jep, this looks good and would be worth a try, McNeil and Garner belong into the squad when they are fit.

Good thing is we don't have Harrison, Doucoure and DCL on long term contracts and can get rid quickly in summer. 300k of wages than can be used. Get 4-5 players on 60k.

Baffles me when people say the league is poor. I think there is a lot of very good sides, much more so than there used to be.
