Confirmed Signing Dele Alli

I thought @neil999 made a very good and worrying point, cant think of anybody that fell off badly and came back as strong.

Am sure theres examples there, but lets hope we can use Dele in a few years as an example.

Most examples usually will be a player moving clubs then his form going to crap before moving again and rediscovering it, harder to think of someone staying losing form over that long then rediscovering it though.

As an extreme example, look at Kante. Absolutely world class at Leicester and beginning of his Chelsea career. Then Sarri played him right mid and he was average. Then he got moved back to CDM and is world class again.

Systems make a big difference and Dele was not suited to what Mourinho, Nuno or Conte wanted to do. Franks a smart man, he’s not gone after Dele to not play to the boys strengths. We’ll be building our line up around Dele in the game against Newcastle, mark my words!

Good point.
Im not saying he is blameless but he def didnt warm to the managers after pochettino. Esp mourhino.
I think you can already see the lampard thing might be similar to pochettino.
Who knows.

Lampard looks far more the "arms around the shoulder" type than the "pretend you don't exist" like Moon Face Koeman.

I think that is what Dele needs. He'll be great for us.

Didn't Levy go about a billion over budget on the stadium?

For all his supposed smartness, he hasn't won very much.

You can’t be good at everything, levy does seem to overvalue a lot of his players and gets the price he asks a lot of the time.

Interesting what happened with Harry Kane, didn’t let go until his demands were met.

Maybe he likes Dax

Any examples of players having great early career, tailing off, then coming back strongly?
Aren’t we seeing that with Gray?

Granted, it’s not been 100% pure gold from him, but he’s been so much better than the average consensus when we signed him would’ve suggested.

And Dele is starting with both a higher potential floor and ceiling.

I remember watching Alli when he broke into the England team and thinking that he would be the dog's testicles in a few years, he really looked that good. Even now, after his form 'falling off a cliff' he's good enough to get in our team. I just feel that perhaps Lampard is the kind of coach to bring out the best in him.

At worst the way the deal is structured, we have a relatively risk free squad option, but, with a bit of luck, we have a very good young player who is still quite young.

The truth is it is what most modern players want (in fact most people whatever their job). No one really wants to work for a manager who they believe doesn’t value them or care about them. That said if the issue really relates to his reluctance to work hard on the training ground he may never regain his best.

One thing going in our favour is that players like Alli (considered to be early bloomers and now past their best). Normally hit that dip in form on the back of a big money move and heavy expectation. Hopefully in this case the fact that he has been written off by Spurs and many in the media means the pressure is off and he can just enjoy his football again - which would see him back to being a very good player.

Worryingly for me, a lot of his goals came via exquisite long 60-yard passes from Alderweireld at Spurs.

Who is going to provide such assists for us? Keane can't even complete a simple 10-yard-along-the-floor pass to a team mate most of the time, while neither Holgate nor Mina or Godfrey are known for their vision or ability to dink the ball over the top.

We don't have players who can unlock defences which could be disastrous in our relegation fight, and we'll really be relying on Gray now to find Alli with his final ball.

I'm sure this will be worked on in training, because Dele is so effective in this way
