Agreed. It's up to Spurs to not be knobs and Dele to accept a cut dealAs with everything in football these days it comes down to money. If we can get any awkward Spurs clauses removed and keep him on eg a one year plus club option deal on far lower wages with a big chunk of them contingent on being on bench/playing then it is lower (not no) risk for the long-shot reward. A gamble probably worth taking for a squad short on flair. If there is any fee and/or fixed high wages then it is too much guaranteed risk for a less than certain reward. Not worth it.
At what point does he become a free agent
But we can’t offer him a contract without agreeing something with Spurs? I’m missing something. Not that I’m saying we should offer him a contract.Already is.
Can anyone recall a time where damaged goods got back to their best?
RockyHappens regularly in everyday life.
Might be tougher at elite level sports where the margins are tighter but an 80% Dele would be quality
This would change the calculation a bit, but I'm sceptical this is right. If we only need to pay on a sale (which is fair enough) why would other reports say we're renegotiating? Unless this deal IS what's been renegotiated?
I’m not feeling that at all.Seems like proper panic stations
This is the crux.Folks, for all we know it could have been the club/Dyche who told Dele to focus on next season.
It wasn't in our interest to play him because we couldn't have paid his fee even if he was fully fit.
There's only one persons opinion who matters - Dyche. Is he confident he can get him going? If yes, if the finances work then why not.
We're on our arse - we've retained Ashley Young and we were desperately hoping Leeds didn't get promoted because of Harrison.
If he's fit and able to play, then he only has to get to 50% of the player he was to be one of, if not our best player.
Knowing our luck, if he stays he doesnt kick a ball again. If he leaves he'll roll back the years.
If the wages are right I can jive with this.
We only give Spurs money if he’s sold on as far as I can tell.
If Dyche thinks he can do a job then let’s run with it.
Fun fact: Donny Van De Beek played 20% more minutes for Everton than Dele despite the fact he only played 7 games and left 2 years earlier
