2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I like him but is there a chance he’s injury prone?

Would we be silly to turn down an offer for someone who spends a bit of time on the treatment table, whose sale would let us retain Branthwaite?
Exactly, there’s no guarantee at all what you get from him in the future.

If his fitness record was perfect maybe you could argue for turning down 25m for one more year of his services, but with his record what are you getting from that one year? It could be 15 goals but equally it might not even be 15 games.

As I always said - he was never right to play upfront in this Everton team and its indicative of why I'm baffled at the confidence people have on our recruitment team to so readily replace Calvert-Lewin.

Branthwaite, Pickford and Onana are the most valuable players in our team - but I think any team whose immediate ambitions are to stay in the league can replace them with players who are 17th and above.

I think Calvert-Lewin is the most difficult we have to replace.

He scores double figure league goals for Newcastle, IMO.

If you deem Pickford, Branthwaite and Onana as the most "valuable" players...

...shouldnt we be looking for a centre forward in that bracket?

A fit and firing Dom is hard to replace. But we’ve seen that in about 10 games over the last 3 years.
Even on his good days he’s not a natural finisher, can’t strike a ball or create a chance for himself.

Thelwell picking out Beto terrifies me though.

Maupay Bobble said wasnt a Thelwell choice.

Beto lets not forget zero downpayment and his former side Udinese have 10 less goals and dropped 3 places this season.

If DCL had a serious injury in September and was out for the season who would have replaced him on zero downpayment?

Weve seen some great players linked to us but Thelwell didnt have the funds.

Lets see what he can do when he has some.

Over a short spell you might be right

But over 4 years?

Yes its true. Since he joined apparently.

Big difference in when Doucoure starts and when he doesnt.

Is it because Doucoure is class OR because weve not had effecive players to replace / rotate with him?

Everton have signed Portuguese striker Beto from Italian side Udinese for a fee reportedly worth up to £30m.

Everton have signed teenage striker Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon on a four-year deal for £15m.

Everton have completed the signing of striker Neal Maupay from Premier League rivals Brighton for a fee of £15m.

@GrandOldTeam

What’s the craic with Ferguson at Brighton? I know he’s considered untouchable by some but if we have DCL and Onana funds?

Genuine question, why does there seem little attention around him from top clubs (or have I missed it in my Everton vacuum)

Still think he will stay imo just think dyche and the club will see him as a main deal to get done.

Would you rather have DCL or Minteh?

I'd go for Minteh.

Have we actually been linked with Adebayo or is it just some of us on here who want him to replace DCL?

Not recently.

Wasnt long ago was it? A few weeks we were linked.

But theres a world of different forwards. If we added pace in the other main 3 attacking positions would we need a target man or a quick finisher?

Lots of options can open up if we improve the wings and Doucoure.

Been injured and didn't do so well so hype died down a little. He'd be ludicrously expensive though.

Ha. Ok mate.

All fees from a private company are undisclosed - I gave the fees commonly accepted and from a credible source - BBC. You can dispute them and argue pennies with *checks* Sky Sports but the point is the same. We've spent a lot of money on strikers and none would start ahead of Calvert-Lewin this season. Replacing him isn't as easy as the likes of you claim it is.

I dont see it as dcl leaving and we get minteh is not a swap deal because different positions. Dcl staying will not change thay the club still needs another two wingers, if ndyiaye comes in that is also not a replacement for dcl.
