I watched almost every minute of every Everton game last season.
He had very few chances - so all this about him missing countless sitters is mystifying.
Generally we'd - mainly Pickford - would hoof it down the field where DCL was expected to win a header and flick it on to himself.
He's a very very good CF - and if we did create chances from wingers getting to the byline then he;ll finish them.
Ancelotti - probably the best manager around - managed to get him playing to his strengths.
He has to sign a contract though otherwise he has to be sold. He can't be allowed to run down the contract as Barkley did.
It wasn’t countless sitters but he missed some very very good chances the one on against villa at home and the one he ballooned over from about 3 yards against Newcastle spring to mind. Ancelotti got him scoring for a short period he was scoring for fun for 10 games at the start but he only scored 3 in the second half of the season everyone always seems to forget to mention that bit.

Never has a player had so many excuse for missing sitter after sitter as DCL.

He played well at the start and end of the season but there was a good 25 game spell were he was terrible. He should be very grateful to Dyche for the faith he’s shown in him.
Spot on. The mental gymnastics some people do to dismiss away the simple reality that the lad is simply not an elite level, goal scoring No9 is beyond me. And yet we're offering a contract to a lad who has scored 15 goals in the last 3 seasons combined. How many other teams would do that?

As I've said before, I doubt it's a coincidence that the one period where he found his composure in front of goal came when the stadiums were empty.

Similar to Michael Keane's miraculous rise to mediocrity during that same season.
Absolutely! Some players (like a Rooney) would feed off the crowd, and play to it. The noise of tens of thousands of fans all around would take them up a level and elevate their game. To be at their best they had to have that environment. And then there are some players who wilt a bit under the crowd pressure, it gets to them pretty easy, and it doesn't take much to adversely affect their game.

He was great considering he hardly trained. If we had Southall that season I think we would have won the league. No disrespect to Mimms.
Mad thing to say after a forty goal season for him and you can all call me a madman for saying it but on reflection I wish Howie had left things as they were up front that summer of 1985.

The one thing Dom isn’t is a natural finisher
Players like Lineker made it look easy

Dom is good at leading the line, holding the ball up, occupying centre backs but not finishing. I think Ndiaye could get a lot of joy playing off him
