His contribution to the team goes well beyond goals
Hold up play is excellent
Great at defensive corners too
Carlo also had Richarlison, Sig, Digne & James putting chances on a plate for Dom.Not really - the great Carlo knew how to play him at his best. It just so happens that EVERY other manager has also started DCL when possible
If he wasn't already here he'd be a 'typical Everton' signing.just what one looks for in a striker
Wanting £35m from Newcastle for a non-prolific striker in the last year of his deal was a ridiculous valuation, but even at £20m (a fair price) can't sell a player if he doesn't want to leave. A year from now, as a free agent, he'll be in the best possible earning position for what will probably be his last big contract, and will have more options available to him - including staying here, I'm sure.I like Calvert Lewin, he will never be prolific, but, he brings a lot of other things to the table. We look a much better team when he plays. All that being said, I hope he signs an extension here, if not I hope we can move him on for £20 mill +. If, on the other hand, he decides to run his contract down, I hope we play him every week and make him follow a full training programme, as the other players do. If he breaks down so be it, it's not our responsibility to be nursing him through the season in order for him to organise a very lucrative free transfer for himself.
So basically, doing a Barkley.Wanting £35m from Newcastle for a non-prolific striker in the last year of his deal was a ridiculous valuation, but even at £20m (a fair price) can't sell a player if he doesn't want to leave. Well at the end of the day, football is his job, each player is going to act in their own best interests however they see fit, whether we like it or not. He'll be 28 next summer, will have been here 9 seasons if he sees out his deal, and might want to go somewhere else whilst he has the opportunity to do so.So basically, doing a Barkley.
Still see him at Arsenal myself.
True but sad !The club are , to an extent, hamstrung. Ok , they can reduce the fee , they can offer a bonus to the player to leave but ultimately he has a contract which he can see out if he wishes.
Exactly - he then got 20 or whatever goals.......cant you see the issue?Carlo also had Richarlison, Sig, Digne & James putting chances on a plate for Dom.
That season he also went like 14 games without scoring after his purple patch.
Unsure why he gets defended so much,
