Who wouldn't dream of a striker at the club who has the Ability to create his own chances if none are coming his way. This is why people are still surprised when he doesn’t score for 15 games.
A striker that can create a goal for himself is always better than one that only gets the tap ins, as the tap ins inevitably dry up when the team isn’t playing well.
I don't remember Lineker having to chase down hoof ball ..... Lineker played in a very gifted team - the team that went on to win the title without him the season after he left us ....Who wouldn't dream of a striker at the club who has the Ability to create his own chances if none are coming his way.
But we don't have a 'Bergkamp' in our Squad. We have Dom who was out injured for god knows how long and once we get him back playing, we don't play to his strengths or in a way he is gonna get great returns, as he's all over the pitch.
Like him or loathe him - The stick he gets on here is taken to far...

Solanke had a cracking season, but put him in our team in the same role that Dyche has Dom playing...Not talking about Bergkamp. But if you even look at say Solanke’s goals last season - 7 or 8 are from half chances at best.
If he doesn’t want to sign a contract we have to sell and replace him ..If his replacement can play most weeks and has some ability then we might just be ahead .
You can make it uncomfortable to stay though. If you dumped him in the reserves for a season his value upon contract expiry becomes really low. He'd have done nothing for 4 years and that hardly guarantees a bumper pay day...….you can’t sell a player who doesn’t want to leave.
Don't think we're in a position to spite ourselves. You can make it uncomfortable to stay though. If you dumped him in the reserves for a season his value upon contract expiry becomes really low. He'd have done nothing for 4 years and that hardly guarantees a bumper pay day...
I'm imagining as hard as I can and I still don't see him getting even remotely close to Lineker's total that season. He's just not a good finisher. I still want him to extend for the other qualities that he brings. If only we had the team that supplied Lineker available to support DCL. Imagine eh!
Probably not, but we could bluff it. Sign, go or rot. It may push him and his agent to make a decision. He can't lose another year.Don't think we're in a position to spite ourselves.
I'm of a different view, the player is entitled to sign for whoever and whenever he wants, he's an employee after all. I understand your pov though.Probably not, but we could bluff it. Sign, go or rot. It may push him and his agent to make a decision. He can't lose another year.
So what are we supposed to do ? let his contract run down and go for free ?….you can’t sell a player who doesn’t want to leave.
The club are , to an extent, hamstrung. Ok , they can reduce the fee , they can offer a bonus to the player to leave but ultimately he has a contract which he can see out if he wishes. So what are we supposed to do ? let his contract run down and go for free ?
His contribution to the team goes well beyond goalsWho wouldn't dream of a striker at the club who has the Ability to create his own chances if none are coming his way.
