….i’d be very surprised if DCL is tempted by a move to Brentford, even in the unlikely event of them meeting his huge wage demands

It was a bit tongue in cheek. Theyre the best side where he starts. Though with Igor signing and Toney not sold, he'd perhaps be 3rd choice after all.

Atill think they will see maupay as an option at the end of the window if thye can sell toney and get him at a cheaper price

Yes hopefully Maupay, and DCL are both punted with Beto moved on as well.

Brentford have a very strict wage policy, Maupay was one of their highest earners last year on 50k a week, no way they are giving Dom the 160k he’s after.
I very much doubt he's holding out for 160k !!

As much as I want him to stay, even he isn't that stupid, Especially if he wants a move..

Personally I would withdraw the contract offer and tell his agent to find him a club as he will not be part of the 1st team plans. I think the club have been more than fair to him and we need to move on. I wanted him to stay but enough is enough. What’s he doing in Ireland FFS?
As a club we need to be ruthless now instead of all this messing about.
That should force their hand and his stupid wage demands and go.
I’ve always liked him but I’ve had enough of this charade.
Everton is the most important thing here.

Quicker hes binned the better

His value with a year remaining is about £15m I reckon. He'd have a lot of takers on a free transfer and would be a great squad option for most squads outside of the Sky teams.

Normally he'd command a wage of about £75k a week, around £4m a year there or thereabouts, so if somebody bought him now it'd be an investment of about £27m all in on a three-year deal.

Teams might as well wait 12 months, get him for free, and he'll be able to get £100k I reckon, about £16m investment over three years for teams which barely gets you a decent Championship strikers nowadays. I imagine he'd do well as a squad option at Palace, Fulham, Newcastle, West Ham, Wolves, etc.

Given our financial situation, it probably makes sense for all parties if he stays and sees out his contract. We need to stay up and can't afford to buy anyone, he will get a better offer if he's on a free. The only issue is if he won't put enough effort in for fear of injury and scuppering his last big contract.

He won’t get a better offer if he breaks down injured again, or doesn’t play/score many for us this season. Running his contract down is definitely not a guarantee of higher wages imo..
Could rebound badly on him this (unlike the Burnley one…)
