Martinez comes across as a "i know best" type.

Think he will be punted soon imo as let's not forget these players and backroom staff will all be good mates/the family feel to the club. Maybe that's why the players don't look like they have any fight in them?

I don't know about that, really. When we were ploughing our way through teams during our good spells last year, we thought he was the perfect personality to lead our team, a breath of fresh air after the negative tailwind of the Moyes era. Now, when results are going against us, he's suddenly stubborn, obstinate, soft etc. Bad results breed bad feeling and resentment and I think a win or two will change our fortunes. I agree that there seems to be an epidemic deficit of fight being demonstrated by our players.

Almost all managers come across as "I know best" - Mourinho is hardly lacking in self confidence or arrogance, LVG even more so and Wenger has a stubborn streak a mile wide.

He can't win with you, if he didn't appear confident you would probably accuse him of being a bedwetter.

Arsenal's has been as daft as ever as well despite in the summer recruiting the head fitness coach of the German national team.

Not sure what Chelsea do but even players with bad injury records seem magically healed - Costa's hamstring have barely twanged and John Terry plays more games than kids 15 years his junior.

All that exercise he does with his teammates' wives.

Theirs a difference between being stubborn and having conviction.

Mourinho is stubborn as a mule yet he changes things if they don't work and won't let players purple patches effect his winning team formula **cough Steven Naismith** **cough Samuel eto'o**

Rodgers is an arrogant Kernt but when his tika taka was found out he changed it to pace on the wings/up top and combine the both and it improved them.

Martinez right now and at Wigan seems to only be able to play the one way. I will also say our club is unique in the way our dressing room has a massive family feel to it every player says that. Something isn't right atm you look at the players lack of fight/even when they scored theirs no elation. Don't let your love for Mr Brown Shoes cloud your eyes to what actually MIGHT be going on atm.

@Eggs has always said we have amazing facilities at our disposal at Finch farm but have never had the correct staff to utilise them. Could this gave something to do with this or was that more about the doctors side of things?

Tbh I think difference between being stubborn and having conviction is often in hindsight, if it didn't work out the person was stubborn and if it did the person had the courage of their convictions. Similarly if they change and it works then they are an adaptable tactical genius and if it doesn't they are flailing around hopelessly.

There was quite a lot of elation when Kone scored his goal just a couple of days ago and it wasn't that long ago that the players were over the moon with the Wolfsburg win. Kev even ran over to celebrate with Martinez at Spurs.

If there are problems at the club they will either get resolved or it will all come to a head, let's just wait and see how things go.

not a problem, on the grapevine ive heard the new bloke is supposed to be amazing....shouldnt have anymore soft tissue injuries

here he is

Hang on, Naismith is a really good player who works harder for the team than pretty much anyone else. He's been utterly transformed under Martinez. He's legitimately one of our best players so I don't know why you're coughing. You might have a point about Eto'o.

Everyone's second guessing everything at the moment but I think it's massively unfair to turn on Martinez in such a fashion.
Have you stopped to consider that Donachie may have actually been at fault here?

The manager is making changes. They might be right, they might be wrong, time will tell. But at least he's doing something. I support him.

Naismith is a poacher whose main attribute is to find pockets of space and score goals. He's a striker playing in the most vital position on the pitch IMO and that's CAM. from that position he offers no service to the striker which means £28 million pound sterling was wasted when we could have kept jelavic for that.

He also means Barkley Is shoved out wide where he is ineffective and hampers baines getting forward. Likewise eto'o does to coleman when he's played on the opposite side.

playing Naismith hampers us much more than it helps especially when his purple patch in front of goal has stopped.

But he runs around alot so he's boss Spurs must be gutted they have eriksen in that position and not the Glaswegian Isco

a bit like Moyes then i guess.. at least he treats the players better than what Moyes did.

Moyes is known to value graft and defensive work on the training pitch rather than ball work though. It's the reason so many of the Man Utd players seen their arse last season, they went from Meulensteen's technique based coaching to mostly physical. Is it any coincidence that Van Persie declared himself unfit to play with a world cup looming?

It's apparently a similar story at Dortmund with Klopp being a hard arse on the training field leading to a load of soft tissue injuries. Makes you wonder if the players have been run into the ground at Dortmund and the result is them being joint bottom of the league.
