The only problem I have with this is that the dunces on our board did a deal with Stake, knowing this was on the cards
This is our board your talking about 🤔

The club needed quick investment

Bill and Denise wanted to make a positive 'Moving Forward Statement' to to the world.
And what better way to do It than to sign up with 'Stake' A Global Vegan Meat substitute company..

Bill's just realising now, there Bet didn't pay off 🤔

Surprised we haven't heard the " if a working man wants to have a flutter on the gee-gee's as a relief from his mundane life, then were is the harm in that?" argument yet. 'Koff you sexist, mysogenistic gammons! I saw growing up what gambling does to keep poor people in poverty, first hand. My arl fella's idea of heaven was pub lock in with a bookie at the table.
The sooner we replace gambling firms as shirt sponsors the better!! get some big tobacco or pharma companies instead... Everton sponsored by 'Monsanto' or 'Big Oil'....

It’s now official.

As much as I object to gambling and the proliferation of access to and advertising it, I cant help but think this is another act of financial consolidation of the top 4-6 teams.

If the mega deals were out there for everyone we (+ 7 other teams) would have one, without gambling is it inevitable our revenue will drop further?
It’s the same as not putting cigs in the shirts.

And it’s worse for the younger generation, we are going to have younger kids having a flutter, a few wins and becoming addicted younger than ever. All from the comfort of the sitting room on their phone… I have seen it happen loads. Credit card run up, not telling the mrs.
Grown men having their money paid to their mrs so they don’t spunk it on the first day.
Most the blokes that keep telling you about what bets they have on even though you never asked likely have a problem, some are surviving some
Are struggling. But it’s a hidden epidemic

Its mad, last month I was doing matched betting, so signed up to about 15-20 gambling firms, the emails they sent were quite obscene and I have had some very minor issues in the past with, lets say "gambling control".

Nobody to blame here but myself of course, but I did have to close 99% of the accounts due to the itch, more so to stop the almost hourly emails offering me many riches for just a small deposit! I forced the missus to have the banking app on her phone, so now when she sees "william hill" on her notifications I get a telling off.

Thankfully I havent given in to my Poker demons yet, but they are calling me, im coming AA, im coming.

I still cant believe its not a national scandal the whole FOBT machines (roullettes) in the bookies from the early 2000's until the effective ban when they were cut to 2 quid a spin a few years ago, the fact that some bookies where opening just to install these machines, scandalous.
The same bookies we see on our tv still today and who are openly celebrated despite if not all at one point being heavily fined for taking advantage of addicts and not putting enough blocks in place.

If anyone needed proof the league have it in for us....
Fully expecting any investigation into us to conclude Just in time to hand us just enough of a points deduction to see us go down....

First COVID screwed us, then the gvt screwed us over Ukraine...
Now the League charge us over finances then vote to remove one of our main sources of income
It's not really removing a source of income. By not introducing it until 2026 it allows the natural end of the contract, which would've been unlikely to get renewed anyway. We'll get another sponsor no problem, and even if it's slightly reduced it will be more than compensated for by then by stadium revenue / naming rights etc.

It's a balanced decision by the PL that does the right thing (and gets the government off everyone's backs), while by delaying the implementation it means no club will have to break existing contracts. It's really not an issue.

I get it, people want everything banned these days, we're moving into the lovely world of Demolition man. However, expect Everton to be embroiled in more financial turmoil, and the top 6 to be even more of a closed shop. Us and the rest of the 14 will be getting a million a year from pucker pies (until the ban on fatty foods that is). Meanwhile the top 6 are safe with their banks and airline sponsorships. I'm starting to think we really do belong in the more 'honest' world of the lower leagues, god knows we are not cut out for the elite.

We live in a world in which a State that cuts peoples heads off for being gay is considered a paragon of virtue compared to a gambling firm who your Nan bets 2 quid on the National every year.

This is the world "we" wanted I guess.

The culture of gambling is entrenched now, the condoning of it by the PL is allowing Toney to still be playing despite admitting to 30+ charges from 230+ ( not exact but best of my memory).
This is just half hearted. Being Everton, Stake will be replaced by Mugabe Holidays or Putin Patio Cleaners.
For the PL to have a cleaner PR would take a hell of a lot more than this, go look for sportswashing properly, or would that be the end of the whole shabang.
